These guys are beating the older pros with new found fish. I'm 63, and have been vertical fishing with Lowrance and SideImaging under the boat. When BASS announced limitations to screens and transducers, this yr, Davey Hites first comments on that live show was they, should have banned Side Imaging when it came out. It sure helped Alton Jones sit on ditch and win the Classic first time being used. Footage don't lie, what view did you get from KVD, the GOAT, while fishing offshore? Looking straight down at his Side Imaging in the front of the boat. For those that don't understand, you could see you bait then just fine. What finally changed, transducer angle. Nobody wined about KVD coverage all these years he fished offshore shell beds, deep rocks for smallies. Go look at yrs of footage 2008 and up. He mastered Side Imaging while the same dock, shoreline, shallow water grass, and lily pads bank beaters competed for the same shallow fish year after year.

ffs allows me to ignore the decades of fishing knowledge I accumulated, and takes much of the guesswork out of my day. It's gotten to where I only use if I have spent half my day getting skunked. Even then, I feel like I cheated. Also, it kinda hurt spending that money, but I had to try it out. After using it I think it should be banned. However, I have said for 20 years that they should give the fishermen a good size tacklebox and let them fill it up. Then allow 4 rods. Then we will truly see who the best fishermen are.

Using FFS is the equivalent of throwing live bait in a bass tournament, is fundamentally contrary to the spirit of competition and is the equivalent of a crib sheet tucked up your sleeve during a HS chemistry exam. JMHO
@stevegunn9971Ай бұрын
Do the anti-FSS people hold their own tournaments? If non-FSS tournaments drew in more viewers, then FSS tournaments would eventually become extinct, right? It seems then that the FSS industry would start drying up.

It’s called being lazy that exactly what is they can draw that check and they have to do nothing but watch a screen of course that aren’t gonna have a problem with it

I can tell you this NPFL gets rolling your gonna see a drastic decrease in viewership in bass and bass pro tour so you can fish that sonar by your self

I think it was 1989, I either got the last check or was the first one out of the money in every event I fished. I had an epiphany and totally changed my approach and started to target bigger fish mostly fishing a jig and not finesse fishing. I found that the average size fish I caught more than offset catching fewer fish. In 1991 I won the Federation National Championship and qualified for the BASS Masters Classic!

In PA where I live on the Alewife lakes a 18” SM weighs about 2 3/4lbs and an 18” LM 3 1/2 lbs. If you go upstate NY where Goby are the principal forage for SM they bulk up to 4 1/4lbs and the LM are still 3 1/2lbs and not worth catching in a weight tournament. I think we will be seeing more CPR B.A.S.S. boat events with some of the restrictions being placed on tournaments like in AL.

Wheeler isn’t a young guy and learned how to use it very well! LOL I guess you have to blame him for the leagues getting rid of it! What you guys need to do is go on strike and not let the leagues tell you what to do. They gave you no say at all! Looks like they own you! And if you Caint use it, the leagues need to pay you back for your investment! That bull! 👍🥸🙏

I think it’s an awesome tool! Just shouldn’t be allowed for tournaments. Simple

this has nothing to do with how one feels about it. and the age thing alone really doesn't play as big a role as many think either.I'm 68 years old and I've been bass fishing for 48 years and I fish in top of the line boats, presently in a Phoenix with all the latest Garmin and hummingbird electronics and I've learned to find and catch fish that I can see swimming and watch my bait go through the water column and I can tell when I'm looking at crappie or gar or bass etc...I'TS A VIDEO GAME!!! It's no longer fishing. Ban it from tournaments for sure and maybe from game fishing all together if after enough study on the affects on the fisheries prove it detrimental.

Wonderful video thank you for making it. You spoke my exact feelings. I fish with friends that have it on their boats, and even had a boat that came with it (used boat). It didn’t take me any time to learn it, but by the time I had learned it, I learned to hate it and never use it. I sold the whole system.

I think livescope is fine probably we just need yearly limits on fish as and keep the daily and possession limits

I'm tired of peeps thinking it's the box doing the work. TREY had his own fishing show at 10 yrs old on the WSN, 1 example of someone who paid his dues and is reaping the blessing of current technology. JTs dad fished professionally, and let's not forget 4 yrs of High School and 4 yrs of college experience before qualifying for most youth entering. The problem, fishing isn't close to other sports that draft new talent every year. How many pro sports have 40 to 50 yr olds primarily. Old pros never had to earn their spots till now. And why should our youth be told to ignore new technology. How does power poles help an angler display boat handling skills? Bed fishing promotes conservation?

When did bass fishing become a video gamers sport instead of a sport for skilled fisherman. Would anyone want to watch pro football with a bunch of jocks sitting around playing video games of football instead of showcasing their skills on an actual field against each other? This bullshit sucks!
@chaddrumm68096 ай бұрын
Anglers with years of experience hate it because it’s a shortcut to success. And IMO, unprofessional!
@donniefoster77137 ай бұрын
It’s not fishing you have a device that show you where the fish are in real time it tells you to put your bait here that’s not fishing it’s spot lighting for fish
@tomrathbun11137 ай бұрын
It's NOT ETHICAL. Spotliighting changes the sport to video gaming. On smaller lakes it ruins crappie fishing and the accidental snagging kills a lot of bass.

And due to the cost of the technology Tournaments big and small are missing out on bigger payouts and more anglers because some anglers like myself wont donate my money to entry fees. If an angler cant afford the tech why should they even try Tournaments knowing they are at a HUGE disadvantage. If you wabt more Anglers in Tourneys then you HAVE to ban FFS.
@bigbuckdown16318 ай бұрын
Great take, its similar to cell phones. If you took away cell phones the younger generation that grew up not knowing a land line or pager would struggle, while the people that transitioned with the technology would succeed.

So many times an average or bad practice can turn into a good tournament. In the past if I had skipped out on events I didn’t think I would do good in based on practice it would have cost me a lot of top 3 finishes.
@theoutdoorslifetv32009 ай бұрын
What is enjoyable about it? What happened to the peace of fishing? The fishing gear industry has turned bass fishing into an elitist sport. You don't have to fish tournaments to enjoy fishing. That's not what it's about.
@scottmooneyham55219 ай бұрын
Good points. But what is different now versus when this technology first came out is that it is now being used to stalk individual bass. IMHO, that is what isn’t right. It’s one thing to see a group of fish, see their movements and make presentations based on that. It is quite another to, in real time, see and follow individual fish and attempt to harass them into biting a lure that u can also see. It’s 12 months of bed sight fishing.
@andybales73185 ай бұрын
It's 12 months of "bed fishing" fish that aren't pressured, which makes it even easier....Fish no longer have a period of time to rest/recover from the spawning season...they are harassed every day, every week, every month...THIS, will no doubt cause a serious decline in fish & the overall condition of fishing...we probably have 5-8 years, depending on the lake to enjoy the great sport...after that, pretty much will be non-existent...Fish are a limited resource & apparently there are people that can't quite grasp that
@jimmurphy8349 ай бұрын
Real time data on the location of a bass and allowing it to be used in competition will destroy the sport.. but hey, at least the electronics companies will rake in billions and that's all they care about. There is no moral compass in this day and age. The love of money is the root of all evil.
