I absolutely LOVE alcohol inks so much. They are so much to play with. They turned out fantastic.

Wow alcohol ink?? Maybe I'm just ignorant, but I've never heard of it... but it looks like so much fun! I think what you made is really cool, and I totally "feel like there could be more... but, what?" Hmm... For me, I'd love to mix it with other things. Like I want to draw something first (or after) and then splash the alcohol ink! Making spirals and all sorts of things (might work with water colour!)🙀😵💫 I honestly might try that as I imagine it'd be really cool as a background for a video! Hope you continue with it and share anything! The cats and scribbles were also really nice! It reminds me of when I'd just "do art" instead of expecting something out of it. Just watching a slow progress one stroke at a time, dripping a bit at a time - it's like creating a moment in the day when you can have some introspection. Gathering thoughts to places you wouldn't always have in everyday life. Really relaxing 🐈 (btw, how dare you not incorporate the cat hair?!?! 😹) And the little inspirational quotes were touching! Hope you and your family had a nice Christmas and New Years! ☃️

Oooooh good idea on incorporating it with other aspects of art! That's why I love art, there's sooo many mediums and even more ways to combine them all, it's like alchemy almost 😹 I totally relate to justing "doing art" vs expectations of art. I imagine it's the same way with animating like you do? You want to practice your craft, yet also you have many parts planned on your ancient egypt series so work must be done 😂 surely there is a middle way for both of us?? I suppose we will find out along the way of our once a month posting LOL I hope you had a great end to your year 🎉🤩
@ofsnowdriftskies21 күн бұрын
@ Exactly! Making use of all the things available to you 😼 But just purely a single medium is great too 👌 Omg the Egypt video 💀😹 The issue with having a project attached to drawing/animation is that you stop doing it if you're stuck on other aspects of the project (so your drawing is also halted). I want to practice drawing - but I can't because I have to research for the video before I draw 😵💫😵💫 So I spent the holidays pretending that this problem didn't exist (I also crocheted some stuff! Posted on my community tab if you want to see it) 😹 Fortunately though, for the past few days I was able to finish researching and scripting for a penguins-history video! 😻🐧 So from here and onwards, I CAN DRAW!!! Egypt video maybe in the summer... (need a break from it LOL) Also, I remember you had like an opposite problem, where you're able to do art just fine (if you can find time) but can't get into the habit of recording your work? Doing stuff without a clear aim (experimenting) while I don't do anything unless it's for a project (like I won't crochet unless it's a gift 💀). Honestly I'd love to shift my mindset so I can get to a "middle way" - at the moment, every video will probably take 2 months 😹 and you're already planning on twice a month! Omg you got this 🙏🫡 Excited to see the next ones!

I made some ugly art today. That wasn’t my intention. I experimented and it didn’t work out for me but I posted it anyway. Gotta show your successes with your failures.

Omg I also used a ton of gloves when working with resin... and curing it too - I ruined my work by touching it too early! Or maybe the room temperature wasn't right? IDK 😵💫 Thanks for sharing your experience dealing with finding satisfaction in your personal time! I don't have a child, but I sort of understand when things feel don't turn out well when they NEED to. Like there's so much urgency, "survival mode" as you mentioned in the video - makes it harder to recognize any little success. I made multiple 20-30 minute videos, all researched, scripted, recorded, animated, all took a long time, and all in thrown in the dump. A 20 minute crocheting video that I was 80% done with, in the garbage... But there are still lots of good parts to these moments that really depend on foresight to notice - I hope you continue finding joy doing art! Also, maybe something to look forward to in the future... I have a little sister who's a decade and a half younger than me, not a daughter LOL but as an older brother, it's really fun to do activities together. One thing that's really fun is sharing all my old "failed" work, such as videos, crochet projects, poems, etc. And especially working on stuff and failing together puts the idea of shared "progress" into the foreground (especially when person time might obscure any perception of progress) - it doesn't feel that bad when we try to make a cake and it doesn't taste as good as we imagined 😹If not immediately a success, it's still always a memory. Hope you stay motivated - lots of sharing to do once your kid is old enough to handle all that resin and clay! Congratulations on the sale in the Facebook group! Hope for more success 💥

Gah I want to start by saying I appreciate you taking your time to write out such a well written comment!!! I got super lucky with my clay pieces perhaps. They were definitely done when I touched them! I did a thin layer and kind of built on it with many cures in between. I wonder if over-curing is a thing?? The videos you discarded were probably a lot better than you thought if you are empathizing with that survival mode feeling :/ though they're gone, you probably still learned so much throughout the creation of them, and now look you're even reflecting upon that haha Thanks for sharing that about your little sister! I definitely can't wait for this to all evolve and get her more involved (if she so desires)! Right now we have a massive sketch pad and non-toxic markers that we use together. It's actually just about finished now ;) Thank you so so much!! Again, I appreciate your comment tremendously 😊

@ No problem - I love watching artsy introspective videos 😹 looking forward to more! Also, honestly I agree with how tough it is to film yourself making art sometimes. Maybe you could try making some tutorial videos to make filming feel more intentional? And I feel like those types of videos might be helpful for growing your channel, and could fit your "vibe" 🐈 Like it'll basically be a more focused version of your vlogs 😹 and you could add some other flares to it. Otherwise, what I'm trying to do is film a bunch of clips and figuring out what to do with them later 🫡 Ahhh maybe I used the resin wrong? Situation: I bought this "crystal clear resin" thing with an additional drip-bottle to cure it, all from a non-art store. They told me to use it outside and not to breathe or touch it, so I did 2 layers with a little flower in-between, then I left it out there in the cold night. In the morning, it was GREASY. Never tried again, but I think there were "miStAkeS" along the way 😹 Over-curing...? Maybe 😵💫 idk I'll give it another shot in the future and try following your lead. I absolutely love your clay-pieces layered with resin! Omg I went overboard with dramatizing my failed videos 😹🙏 I actually still have them! They're in a "state of garbage", not literally in the dumps LOL. I absolutely agree that I got some valuable experiences from those videos - and I'm thinking about maybe reusing some of it too! I wanted to emphasize that though they failed in that particular instance, it's unfair to consider them useless overall 😼 So with your art too - things might not turn out the way you'd like it to in the moment, especially when we'd all want our personal time to be worthwhile. But maybe it'll be alright as long as you keep your doors open to trying? A massive sketch pad sounds really cool! Going to hang it up somewhere? We also have a white board too - but my sister turned it into one of those sorta picture-collages-on-a-refrigerator-door 😹 You'll definitely find more opportunities to do stuff with your daughter. Almost everyday for elementary school (she's grade 1 now), my sister brings home some sort of art project - I'm not sure if that's the norm but maybe you'll have chances to help her with some stuff?
