@@fanag0logan Thats Awesome!!! my daughter is Jessa and plays trumpet. I went to Los AL for 4 years (1996-99) and then I taught there for 4 years( 2001-05) teaching drumline and I was part of the visual staff.. I wrote some new cadences for the drumline this year. I gave them to Mr Buchen. they are pretty groovy cadences... easy stuff that can be passed on to the kids after you. if you haven't received them yet, you should ask Buchen for the new cadences haahahaha he's got 3! I could come teach them but I'm sure your coaches wouldn't want me getting involved. but I would do it in a heartbeat if I was asked to.
@fanag0logan16 күн бұрын
@@BigBeardedDrummer Wow, a lot to take in! I'll make sure to ask Buchen about the cadences. Also, it's incredible to hear that you were a tech for our school! All that aside, I'm currently working on making archive playlists for our marching band, drumline, and guard, they all should be public on my channel. If there's anything you have that's missing from there than please let me know :)

I remember falling to the ground, marching snare strapped to my chest. I made a quick recovery, in step, since I fell to one knee and jumped right back up! I wonder if one of your 3 videos might have captured this. I’d be the left snare from the camera’s perspective.

I remember this like if it were yesterday. I was a freshman at the time a clarinet player. We practiced all summer long and by the first football game of the arvin high season we had the entire routine down and we performed it. Out of my 4 years of being part of the Arvin high band I felt like my freshman year was the best. Band director that year was Mr Kyper. Go arvin crimson bear brigade!!!❤

This program has gone through so much and come so far. I don't know if this was Hattendorf's first year or the one before it. I wasn't sure this was even the same band, then I realized these are the OLD old uniforms. What's crazy to me is that I personally know people who were born around the time of this performance, at a high school we've never heard of, who would grow up to join this very program and lead it to state championship.

Awesome first song, The Theme From Ice Castle's. I understand it was popular during this time with high school bands. The Madison Scouts made a popular version around 1980 i believe, that can be viewed on KZbin as well.

I would like a best copy of this field show for the Los Altos Archives. All we have is a segment from the Bands of America performance at Mt. SAC. One comment: An original idea for Los Altos, the warm-up is the theme from "Far and Away". Something Mark Gunderson got from the Santa Clara Vanguard which used it the the Summer of 1994.

My favorite and most memorable year in SVHS marching band was in my sophomore year 1984-85. We lost our band director after competing in Los Altos after being spotted directing the SVHS Pioneers . It was brought to SVUSD's attention that their SVHS band teacher had no credentials to teach and that he had done so to show up those who cast him out. We had no immediate replacement band teacher, so we continued to practice our routine on the field on our own, and master our music in class under the supervision of a substitute teacher for the whole second quarter. That's when Larry Elginer had been recruited from Sinaloa Jr High as Simi's new highschool band teacher and help us rise from the ashes. He did a great job and had a spectacular second semester under his direction. I just bought a sax after not playing in 33 years and came here hoping to find footage from that school year. Oh well, maybe one day one will post. You guys sounded great, we often thought what would become of the band after we graduated. It was in our hopes pioneer pride would continue to work hard building a strong reputation for the pioneers!
