The album's cover is reminiscent of Renzo Piano's architecture, would say that it's one of his buildings but i can't remember the exact name of the project that looked similar to this.

I saw him perform half-a-dozen times. Once, in a small nightclub in the village, I wound up sitting right next to him, facing the piano. I couldn't believe the force that he brought to his playing, and he's a little guy.

Arguably my favourite album of all time. The eerie sinister mood on the first two tracks and the odd funhouse feel of the last two give this album a unique vibe imo! When I found out it was recorded the day before the Kennedy assassination my mind was blown further. Love this era of jazz 63/64!

I think the most interesting part of this is moments feel very Rhys Chatham or Glenn Branca-ish. It’s unique how New York in the 70’s was building its own very very specific guitar vocabulary just a couple years before those gentlemen took it in a slightly more extreme direction. The unison tuning strings really really stand out.

celebrating the date of birth of drummer Idris Muhammad (born November 13th, 1939) here's a Pharoah Sanders album that features him personnel on this album is: Pharoah Sanders - tenor saxophone, contrabass clarinet, reed flute, kalimba, orchestra chimes, percussion Leon Thomas - vocals, percussion Lonnie Liston Smith - piano, African flute, kalimba, percussion Cecil McBee - bass, percussion Richard Davis - bass, percussion (on #2 only) Idris Muhammad - drums, percussion Roy Haynes - drums (on #1 only) recorded October 20th, 1969 feeling quite a rush of nostalgia listening to these modal-jazz excursions! from when i first started getting into Impulse! spiritual jazz (from the Red Hot on Impulse compilation CD in the late '90s). i would drive over to record stores in little 5-points in Atlanta to pick up Impulse titles (that they had in a little glass CD case). rest-in-peace so many of the legends who appeared on this classic! love the two double-bass duet on side two (in classic form from Ole, Free Jazz, etc.) Pharoah Sanders-Jewels of Thought (1969)

Four years ago. This was put up four years ago and how many hits do we have here? The experimental consciousness is out there, and needs sustenance. Let's see if this thing can be spread as expression. Thanks for posting it

I so wish I could buy this, nobody is selling it even on Discogs. Thankfuly I have a working tape deck, my older cousin taped me the whole CD that misses nothing from their discography, unlike other compilations like that which are not complete.

Ah, the air of Zomadonou is full of fresh screaming today. Thank you... what an intriguing album, and the cover is like an awesome-looking textbook. Except those usually turned out to be boring inside.
