The cycle rate is proportional to the temp. Short on off cycle is hot, long off on cycles are cooler, no cycle (all on) = is max temp. Hope that makes sense? In normal operation, the discrete numeric setting is manually correlated to the temp reading from a thermocouple. So if you need a specific temp you have to calculate (extrapolate) the temp from your calibration curve.

How much price
@RelentlessEnthios Жыл бұрын
I think I got it for about $40. It needed some wiring fixed and a cord with a plug for a 220 ac outlet. The bottom heater plate doesn’t work, it looks like a previous owner put too much flux on a part and it melted straight through the heating element. A new plate is $100-200 and I’m super cheap so I haven’t replaced it yet. I can put around 200g of aluminum in a small pot and met it in about 15-20 min. So it works great for casting small parts.

Great idea. But wouldn't that just mean you have a device that has touched surfaces in your pocket now? Would you have to immediately sanitize the item after every single use?
@RelentlessEnthios3 жыл бұрын
That is a super relevant point. At the beginning of the pandemic it looked like SARS-CoV-2 was really stable on any surface at any temperature regardless of humidity. As it turns out, the combination of humidity and temperatrue drasticly shortens the effective "life" of the virus. The same physical conditions that make gummi bears soft and squishy in your pocket are also pretty rough on the virus, so sticking it in your pocket after use is likely to be a reasonable control mechanism. But either way, don't lick your fingers or your Korona Karambit after being out in public. (also, don't stick them in your nose, eyes or that big sphincter at the other end.)

Did you print your own parts for the upgrade? I tried to print my upgrade parts using ABS but failed. Are you located in the US? Currently, the upgrade kit if I buy it from Prusa will cost around 90.00 dollars.
@RelentlessEnthios4 жыл бұрын
I printed the parts using PETG (amazon basics). Worked on the first print. I'd have to check but I think the g-code from Prusa specified using PETG. I can see how ABS would be a problem if the files were intended for PETG. . The MK3 to MK3s kit is still about $20 on the purse website, which I thought was a bargain. Yes, I'm in the US, North Carolina.
@MaxGoddur4 жыл бұрын
@@RelentlessEnthios assuming you were quoting the cost for the upgrade on the Prusa site which is $20.00 dollars if you want the printed parts it is $40.00 plus shipping which is $50.00 so these parts would cost me $90.00. This why I am looking for someone closer to me to print the ABS parts.
@RelentlessEnthios4 жыл бұрын
Just curious, but why are you printing in ABS? I think the parts from PRUSA are PETG, and I'm pretty sure they sent me some PETG filament in the kit.
@MaxGoddur4 жыл бұрын
@@RelentlessEnthios early on Prusa recommended you print the upgrade parts in ABS and pretty much believe they did the same when shipping the same parts they printed. Somewhere along the line started reading folks were being told to print them in PETG. The responses after that suggestion were people writing not to use the parts printed in PETG near hear as it caused them to sag. Since reading this info from various sources it kind of stuck in my mind. Still waiting for this to be cleared up.
@RelentlessEnthios4 жыл бұрын
So, I know you shouldn't believe everything you read on the the internet, but looks like Prusa is still recommending PETG because this is what comes in the kit. This package includes: IR filament sensor + cable PTFE tube Fan-shroud-black (factory printed from ABS) Bolts & fasteners, steel ball, magnets Textile sleeve 300g Black PETG for self-printed parts note that the PETG for self printed parts is right there in the package. Most of the Chinese machines support boils down to community Facebook pages, which are usually pretty horrible places.

I ordered the MK3 to MK3S upgrade also but delivery took much longer than expected. Now my son started with a study project and became depending on the 3D printer. I don't want to harm his project by messing up something during upgrading (like a heating element). So I wait upgrading till he has has printed all parts he need for his project. While waiting for the upgrade to arrive I did 3D print all needed parts. I also printed the "plug-aligner" which was your missing part. It was not found under the printeable part for the MK3 to MK3S upgrade . But it can be found in the MK3S printable parts package. Having installed the "plug-aligner" would have prevented the mis-alignment of the plug onto the Einsy board. Then I have found also other parts that have "secretly" updated since I received my printer September 2018. (like the Z-axle-bottom and the Eisy-base).
