I am a business owner thats building out our camper for off grid survival. Not because there isnt work, or that I cant afford my rent...the LANDLORD cant afford the house because he's borrowed against it. Told me before the interest rate increases that he was already upside down 300 a month on the property, my rent wasnt covering it. He wanted another house, so the bank let him remortgage the rental so he could use that for a down payment on another house. Im now headed into a LTB hearing because he wants to evict me. Im fairly confident he wont win that request but at the same time, its pretty clear Im on borrowed time. If I get to stay, he loses the house to the bank anyway and I eventually get evicted. In either case, Im homeless, whether its now or later. All because housing is unavailable and unaffordable.
