at 13:40 defenders can fire any missile weapons at chargers. and generals can move if they fail an order. 16:43 you can only charge enemy to your front 45 degrees, you could have used initiative to charge to your front. 21:48 you moved the chargers correctly, since you started the charge at an angle you must move the most chargers to there front which is what you did since the romans had a smaller unit. 22:13 since the cavalry is to the front of the romans before any movement did start, it can only charge to the front. 24:58 all supports hit on a 4+, supporting units never count bonuses from charging or countercharging or from winning the previous round .include counting only "bad" bonuses, like shaken or disordered. when your infantry retreated the velites have to roll a d6 on a 1-3 they are disrupted and still have to make way. yes supports move up also in qa follow-up charge. velites are disordered they cannot charge to there rear, and if they could they would have charged the flank not the rear of the gauls. not sure if velites are open order, if so they cannot charge infantry or cavalry unless they also are in open order. 33:07 cavalry could not see the other cavalry at beginning of turn so no charge possible. 38:39 gauls get +1 for charge and second roman unit also gets +1 for charge. you do not get a disorder removed in combat. more stuff but you learn and try again.

@TabletopCollective thanks. Yeah it's scary. I am using this philosophy: Paint a division of each types the infantry (not sure yet how it's all broken down) detailed for photos, then all the others in an "impressionist style". Just so they look distinct on the table, but won't stress about too much detail. (Peachy has done a good one for this). I like your paint job so far. But let's face it...I just want the elephants....I love them. I look forward to watching more from you guys. All the best.

I wish the tactics were better it takes a lot away from the video. Either: You back up out of 10.5in from Beorn and friends (which you physically can’t do being within 3in at the start) can’t charge you. Or: You just go all in on Beorn and don’t let him “transform.” (You can beat Beorn and kill him in man form). That being said you could have backed everyone up, and just tagged him with a single Urk. While the production value was beyond expectation the rules knowledge and tactics meant I didn’t even finish this video. Sorry lads. Maybe the next one.

i have never played but are all games this small do you ever have say 90 to 120 models on board?
@willmorris81213 ай бұрын
Some times people play at 1000 points, and that's on the high side, and could have that many depending on what army you field. I'd say most games are played between 600-800 points. Even at 800 points armies like Goblin Town, or Moria can have anywhere from 80-100 models. Usually if an army reaches those numbers their the "horde" army. Most at this points level will stay around 30-40. The bears are considered "elite," being 200 points a piece, so the rest of the army won't have too much in it.

eh, as with any other wargame that has it, a limit on pre-measuring never sits right with me. I'm great at judging distances, personally, but I know plenty of people who just don't have that innately, despite working with distances all the time. Feels like an arbitrary skill check that some people simply can't deal with, and other people are innately good at. It's not like learning strategy or tactics or having a better plan, formation, or army make-up which can be learned and studied. So I'm personally not a fan of those sort of rules. It's like having a rule that you can't look at your opponent's unit information imo; either memorize it before playing a game or just be surprised by skills and stats. That just doesn't seem fun. Game looks neat otherwise.
@TabletopCollective3 ай бұрын
I totally get that! I’ve played enough wargames where I feel I can judge pretty accurately 6”,12” etc. but I get there’s people that couldn’t really do that. I’m a sucker for “realism” so I love in some games, like Bolt Action, where if you go to shoot but they’re out of range it just flubs. Unless you have some sort of distance measuring device on you you’re also gonna give your best guess IRL. Totally get it though!! That’s why I love wargames, there’s so many options, there’s something there for everyone. Thanks for checking this out! - Boone
