I'm curious, are the league races actual races, or are they lap time based? Just got back from a company event at High Voltage today, had an absolute blast, would love to get into it more.

@@Hi.ImJake the league night races are actual races. It's been awhile since I've been in an indoor facility. I'm pretty much exclusively focused on outdoor go karting which in my humble opinion is a lot more fun. But it's a completely different world and a completely different topic no less! In the meantime, definitely try out league nights at high voltage for sure. The staff over there are great!
@Hi.ImJake
@Hi.ImJake 28 күн бұрын
@CaptainAwesomeness yeah I could definitely see outdoor being more fun. Having a lot of iRacing experience, and following various racing series my whole life, I intended to have fun but also take it seriously and keep it clean today. My coworkers turned it into bumper karts pretty quickly, and all day. I got stuck behind our fastest guy for an entire race because he had a slow kart, and the track is just so narrow that every time I got a nose inside on him, he was going to unknowingly feed me into the wall at the next apex. I didn't want to turn him, so I just lived with it. A proper outdoor track with plenty of width would be a different story for sure.

@@Hi.ImJake when you have the desire/ability I highly encourage you to visit an outdoor karting facility! We don't treat go-karting in the outdoor world like it's a kid game. And actually that is THE reason why I left indoor go-karting behind me or rental go-karting for that matter. So much more fun when you race with people who know how to give you a run for your money and keep it safe!

just a thought, please tell me to shutup if you're not interested. In cornering, I'm seeing you do a lot of steering with the wheel rather than the pedals. What I mean by this, in a left hander, specifically T1 but applies to all corners, if your wheel is aiming left, then your leaving grip on the table. You can carry a little more speed there and manage the rotation of the kart with your feet. obviously you can over do this, but the best spot is something I call "sitting in the pocket". Your kart is rotating and you're actually putting minor counter-steer inputs to balance the kart through the corner. This should help with corner speed quite a bit and the all important speed up the next straight away.
@CaptainAwesomeness

@@TheAirun17 you made good points but you have to remember we're talking about go-karts, not cars. We don't have suspensions and definitely no differential to distribute torque between the rear wheels. You have to lift the inside rear tire up in order to get the go-kart to roll through the turn without losing speed to tire scrub of the inside rear wheel. Only part of what you are talking about applies to go karts and that too only the two-cycle go-karts that have a lot more power (20+ HP) than these little 8.5 HP LO206 four-cycle engines that we use in the class I race in. Your suggested method will only slow the driver down, not actually help them when putting it in the context of go-karts.

@CaptainAwesomeness
@CaptainAwesomeness 4 ай бұрын
I've done a couple of videos about how best to navigate through the track so that you can get a better lap time than what you've been able to achieve on your own. However I do not know if the go-karts are in good enough condition to achieve any kind of respectable lap times anymore. I do not live in Pakistan and I'm not in Pakistan right now so I cannot really say one way or another.

@@CaptainAwesomeness The go-karts are in a sorry condition right now. A guy I karted with did achieve 1:15:00 even on those godforsaken karts, so there is still room for improvement.

I managed a 1:14:05 laptime yesterday. I'm a 102kgs. Guess will have to lose weight to go faster. Also, what are your thoughts on the latest 31 second laptime? BS, right?
@CaptainAwesomeness
@CaptainAwesomeness 4 ай бұрын
Well it might not just be your weight. When I did this lap time, it was in 2021 when their go-karts were brand new. I do not know what state of maintenance they're in now, but when I was in Pakistan in 2023, they were horrible - to the point that I felt like my rear end was literally on fire. If they have brand new or somewhat new go karts, a better lap time is possible if you not only lose a little bit of weight but also maybe improve upon your racing line. As for the 31-second lap time, yes that is straight BS. It is simply not possible if the go-karts they have now are the same as what I had been on up until 2023. That kind of lap time is shifter or super kart level which I know does not exist in Pakistan.

I was in the military (USN) for eight years, but I feel the hardest thing to experience is witnessing your own child suffer. Our daughter has Lyme's Disease and we nearly lost her in 2020. When everyone was complaining out about COVID, my wife and I were simply trying to get through one hour dealing with her. The military (for me anyway) and COVID were nothing compared to what we experienced for several years and as a result, I have several forms of PTSD from the trauma. I could go on, but we all face our own unique challenges and it helps to release them because it's a way of healing. I never shared this story with anyone. Thanks for what you all do.

Looks like a blast to drive those things. Can you mount a cam on your helmet or is that not allowed? It would be awesome to listen to someone's commentary while driving. Plus, having a cam on a helmet would allow for greater stability and less noise vibration. Maybe you do this already, I haven't watched all the videos yet.
