Thanks for the video. I’m a travel nurse and I just accepted my first triage phone assignment. I work in ER so I love doing IVs as well and patient/colleague interactions. Can I ask, I know how you said that if you have trouble, just keep practicing and offer to do vag exams for the other nurses, how exactly would I go about asking if I can do their vag exams when I don’t even know what I’m feeling for? I feel like every time I go in, I just can’t find it and it’s so discouraging and disheartening and I just feel like I’m never gonna get it.

I am an experienced nurse in L&D. But I have only worked in teaching hospitals, where residents do ALL the exams. Now in a non-teaching hospital and I feel like a new grad. Having a difficult time locating the cervix. Even more challenging when they are early labor and not medicated. What tips do you have on how to visualize what I am feeling?

I'm wondering if I would have the choice or opportunity to work 12-hour shifts 3 days a week doing telephone triage..and/or if this would be too difficult to work these long hours doing this particular job. Please add the difference between internal os(which is really what is being measured) and the external os.

One of the residents recommended I put a tape measure on back of my work id. To compare what I measured against the tape measure. Cheap & has helped so much! I use one of the baby tape measures @ work.For me the effacement is the hardest to learn. Like ummm “ it’s thick”. Something I’m working on.

At 38 + 4 I was told I was 1cm dilated and 1cm thick . But that she could stretch to 2cm while doing sweep . I lost mucus plug/show 38+6 currently 39+3 an have another appointment tomorrow . What does 1cm thick mean ? How can I bring on labor ASAP
