Buying a motorcycle because of the country it comes from or the brand never makes sense. These are generally purchases of passion rather than common sense. A smart purchase begins with understanding what the intended purpose of the motorcycle is. How and where you want to ride, single vs pillion, motelling vs camping are the primary factors to consider before doing some in-depth research, reading specs and reviews (or watching them). One important point is understanding what you and potentially your pillions tolerance for comfort or, rather, lack thereof is. Even the best-suited bike forces some compromises. A Goldwing certainly offers the most comfort and reliability but may be considered boring by some, a BMW K1600 is far more fun due to its outstanding performance, but is less comfortable. If you intend on going off-road, an ADV bike makes sense, but it sacrifices comfort for the pillion. I think you have the wrong bike.

@@2Upon2Wheels A Guzzi has been on my bucket list for years, but not for touring. I am fortunate to own several bikes, one for two up touring, and an ADV bike for touring by myself and an around the town, riding to the coffee shop bike. My towny bike gets the most frequent use, while the ADV bike gets the most kilometres. My two-up machine also pulls a trailer when my partner is on the road with me, but it hits the pavement just a few times a season. Arguably, any model of Guzzi fits into the coffee shop bike class in my books. Too unreliable and a weak dealer network to boot. But they do have character.

Wow, I have never owned a Guzzi but one has been on my list for some time. I would never consider one for a long-distance trip. I did a similar trip two years ago maps.app.goo.gl/AKoFTccUEreAPVb8A on my '07 BMW R1200GSA (30,000kmm +). During the trip I had no mechanical issues and replaced only tires, oil and filters and a headlight bulb. I left home with approx 70,000km showing on the clock; I still own the bike but it now has 132,000 km on the odometer. I think I would have dumped the Guzzi in a river. Good video, though; too bad the trip was marred with so many mechanical and other difficulties.

If you havnt already changed you plug caps keep it in mind similar syptoms to the ones you had missing under load. Spark Plug Caps. To remove, don’t pull on them from the top. Poke a long thin Screwdriver or Rod through the Cooling Tunnel above the Exhaust Header Clamp, and feel for the bottom of the Cap. Lever it off with the Screwdriver/Rod. There’s a bit of a knack to it, but once you’ve done it a couple of times, it’ll be easy. If you pull the Caps from the top, you can damage the Cap, the inside of the ‘Elbow’ (bend) can crack, leading to the Spark shorting out to the Valve Cover, especially in the wet. Caps can be replaced with the Red all-rubber NGK versions. (SD05FM) They’re a little long, and stick out the top of the Valve Cover, but they fold down neatly under the HT Lead Cover. You can make a Pulling Loop with a couple of small Cable Ties. Make a small Loop with one, that you can easily get a Finger through, then attach that to the Plug Cap under the Elbow with the second Tie.

Hi , this is a nice video and it will help me a lot, because I must do the same on my bike, I think. I have a 2011 Stelvio NTX. I have a sound like something has blown in the exhaust system. When I am twisting the throttle then I can hear that blown sound, when the throttle is steady then it is not so obvious . When I ride my bike, it seems to me that is comes from RH side cylinder from the front. I think that is is the gasket between the head and the pipe ,number 976376. From your experience, do you think it might be that gasket ? Thanks
