I think they were more specifically talking about how they knew Saburo was killed by Yorinobu, Jackie and V being on the scene but their identities unknown, and how they were trying to steal the Relic which was obviously an engram of Johnny Silverhand. The news only knew about the assassination of Saburo and they thought Yorinobu was not the murderer.

or could be t-bug. it's said the informant was to check on our employer. apart from t-bug, jackie and dex, i fail to see who could get intel on evelyne parker and didn't survive to tell the tail. the only other possibility would be takemora. the informant ain't said to be dead, but to have disapeared. takemura went into hiding. still, takemura is much more unlikely as he's far too loyal for that. dex could be the informant. takemura could have used him as a witness just like us, but killed him. could have been because he knew about dex real alligence. would also explain how he disapeared for 2 years and why he resurfaced. as for t-bug, she planed on living her life away from work in a cottage or something. strange how it looks a lot like a certain bartender of dogtown who wished such a great end of creer. jackie, i doubt it. would be strange to call him a "local mercenary" without specifying he's an informant too. plus, pretty sure t-bug would have known, as she got in his head. learning of his liability, she could have fried him and search someone else. she knew how risky this was. the konpeki bartender don't have much reason to disapear. sure, he's suspiscious, but there's also rumors he's an ai. could also be that he's like the cloud's girls. a program in his head might have him act pleasantly with clients, adjusting to them. easier to get chummy with others, when you have things in common. probability of him being the informant less higuer then t-bug or dex, but more likely then jacky or takemura. the only other possibility i can think of is someone we never met nor even knew existed or one of the many guards we killed there.

@@ericcardinal9138 aye, one can't rule out dex or t-bug out-of-hand although dex seems too bush league for the fia to roll the dice on. last time dex tried to run a big op in night city he caused chaos and barely made it out of nc alive so I'd assume the fia, given that they're plenty established in NC, would use someone bigger on subtlety and results. (Not really relevant but given how the timing adds up I've always assumed Sov-oil probably backed Dex's return to NC) the question of who could get intel on dex's op is probably longer than any player could ever know: anyone with a rep for discretion that could pay rogue for one, a militech-affiliated intelligence network could conceivaly have feelers out around Meredith Stout's missing shipment, netwatch were likely keeping an eye on any irons Parker had in the fire, thinking about it even the flathead itself could have been the informant depending on how far ahead of V the FIA was and how much they could sneak past maelstrom's techies. The question of who didn't survive to tell the tale is another one with more possible answers than is obvious, like Dex said, anyone who had so much as a toe in konpeki that night was as good as dead. I'd never really thought about T-bug as an NUSA asset though. Seems weird to me that her information/netrunning skills would prove so inadequate for the heist in that case (since she was supposed to be able to get in and out in a flash with the flathead but it turned into an hours-long run) but there's always the possibilty that Bug was running a much longer op, making sure Yorinobu's coup had a couple of scapegoats for him to point the finger at and buy him time to consolidate his attempt to weaken Arasaka from the inside, than anyone guessed. I can see how the NUSA/Militech would, given the option, want him in a position to do that even if it accelerated the timeline on the next corporate war a bit. We may never know 🤷

The context where 0-1257 is mentioned strongly suggests an employee of Arasaka. Them disappearing could either be someone V killed (as you say), or they were simply caught out as a mole.

I doubt it's anyone connected to the Heist as their report says the identities of the 2 mercs present during Saburos murder are unknown. Takemura would have been less pushy about getting help from Arasaka if he was the informant and he's Japanese so I don't see him allying himself with the NUSA. The golden bartender makes the most sense since he's in a spot to keep an eye on high profile individuals and in a way works for Arasaka.

No, it is Oleg, Dex's Bodyguard. That wasn't 0-1257, its O-1257. If you take 1257 to become a letter, its become 12->L, 5->E, 7->G thus O-LEG. Yes it also can be 1->A, 25->X, 7->G but OAXG doesn't mean anyting.
