This is nothing like what I have seen at the rapids. A clean 5 foot wall with sport yak surfing....

Usually kayak vids have the worst music... in this case the 'quirky' tunes work and add to the video. Good footage.

I remember looking out at the ocean at cape flattery and it was hella cool until a storm came in. We had to make our way back to the car getting rained on.

Would you say its dangerous to kayak here? Also would you recommend going here during low or high tide if I want to kayak? Thanks!
@JasonsNWAdventures4 жыл бұрын
There is definitely a high amount of risk involved in paddling here. There are many considerations to take into effect such as the remoteness of the location, limited spots to land, weather and sea conditions, tides, your experience and abilities. Cape Flattery itself is a major headland where the effects of wind and tide are exaggerated. The best tide to visit is during a mid to rising tide. Most of the beaches are inaccessible at low tide due to massive boulder fields.

Where did you park??
@Olympic_TryAthlete5 жыл бұрын
Just curious, I know you put in near the Lyre River, but where exactly? Just want to know if it is public parking and how far from car to shore (kayaks are heavy!). Murdoch Beach? I read it is a couple yards. If so, how rough the trail? Thanks

Amazing video. I was new to kayaking back then but going out a lot in 2011. It looks like I was in Eastern WA about that time in Aug 2011 so over there the weather was very different. Stay safe. Watch out for those rocks!

I thought you were going to paddle the main bar and I was going to be like ahem*dumbass*. I personally have gone over the bar many times in a 32 foot boat and I gotta say, even for that you got guts.
