Hey! I know this is unlikely, but I wanted to cover all my bases. Many years ago, you posted a video of the Birdville High School Marching Band, who played Stravinsky in 2003. I don’t know if you posted it because of the Stravinsky or if you were related to Birdville in some way, but would you happen to have any other recordings of the Birdville Band, specifically 2006, entitled “Flight”? I completely understand if you don’t, just wanted to make sure! Thank you very much.

It was me it was me because I was so impressed with the section they took from act 1 and did not change the time signature! The DCI can't even find a band that can do that so I was just wildly impressed. I have them in my Stravinsky playlist and I do not know anything about them. If you know anyone there please let them know I even wrote a post about them

@@fatovamingus I appreciate your response, thanks! I have looked in many, many places, and I haven’t found it yet, so I’ll keep looking. I’m glad you enjoyed the show in 2003, it is still considered one of the best ever here at Birdville. I have checked Vimeo previously, and there’s, unfortunately, nothing pertaining to 2006. I appreciate this a lot, and I’ll continue to post more videos, possibly even a 2003 video 😄! Thanks!

Well, Magdalena isn't the worst role model for a 9 year old girl. She didn't take her father's crap. lol My first exposure to Le Sacre would have been hearing the butchered version that appears in Disney's Fantasia when i was very young (6 or 7) but I was not aware of who the composer was until later in high school, when a music teacher introduced me to Petrushka. after that, i became obsessed with everything Stravinsky.

Did you listen to Milhaud's L'homme et son Desir? The best recording is posted on YT by Rodders Classical. I think the closest in spirit to Le Sacre in some respects, and no doubt an inspiration to Varese (compare to his Ionization). Ballet no longer exists, but was regarding indigenous people of Brazil (where it was written, and I think performed) and rainforest/moon rituals with visits from wild animals. Curious to know what you think!

this has to be the best arrangement of the rite of spring for piano, it imitates the orchestra much clearer than 2 pianos. anyone happen to know whose arrangement is this? also, i'd like to see the act 1 for this performance edit: i just realized that the girls return to the circle from the corner straight away instead of in a line as i've seen in other performances. also, the stage and theater this was performed seem to be smaller than the others i've seen. interesting!

@@fatovamingus In my college days, my conducting instructor related a story that I think was about The Rite, he said that when Stravinsky escaped Russia, he had to rewrite all his pieces, and he admitted that he wrote the Rite too complicated. I'm not sure if it was the Rite or Firebird.

@@michaeld.mcclish I wrote a great response to this and then it was gone. Essentially he wrote the Firebird in 1908 in Russia for Sergei Diaghilev's Ballet Russes and went to Paris to see it in 1910. Then he never went back choosing Switzerland and Paris during the Revolution and after the war broke out. I have almost whatever you could learn on him in Vimeo. Here, it is little pieces for good reason. Have you watched my "Lets Talk Le Sacre"??
