Awesome video, thanks! I'll be getting that Vallejo Water Texture one for sure. What did you use for the grey stones on the bases? Looks great! Would love to steal it. It'd look great with a dark blue pigmented water I think.

Can't you just use any non absorbent surface to do this? Seems a bit excessive to spend 30-40 bucks on a texture palette
@WarpGateStudios21 күн бұрын
I think mine go for $25 which includes postage but you can find others out there a lot cheaper that 30/40. The mdf has enough grit in it to help the process. I have tried Resin and Plastic texture palettes and they do offer different experiences. But sure anything that doesn't absorb the moisture would work. :)

Very good, I already did tests, now the million dollar question, for the purposes of varnishing before applying decals and washes, what is it sealed with? because that must be sealed before applying decals and oils and then sealing again. I hope you can comment, thank you very much
@WarpGateStudios2 ай бұрын
Hi! It’s sealed with a varnish as the wax needs sealing otherwise it will continue to come off every time it’s handled.

The varnish is water based to seal it. Vallejo is easy to brush on or airbrush on to create a barrier.

Thanks for the review. I received a Redgrass R9 lamp for Christmas and I'm thrilled with it in terms of light quality, features, and construction. It is a bit spendy, but worth it IMO if you can afford it. This work lamp seems like it would be a great choice for a budget option. A good lamp is a painting hobby game changer.

Thanks for the comment! Yeah good lighting helps eyes, painting. And seeing the model so well worth investing in a decent light. And yes this is slightly cheaper than the red grass r9 so definitely worth checking out. I am very pleased with all three of my Neatfi lights.

I've been using a glass cutting board as my paint palette and it works great but it doesn't have any texture so I just keep swirling the brush around to remove the excess paint. So far so good. I was thinking of getting one of these and priming it to get a better idea of how colors would look when mixed.
@WarpGateStudios6 ай бұрын
Totally! I have seen them primed with black grey and white and they do mimic very well and work nicely!
@Carlos-sl5iy6 ай бұрын
how do you clean the palette afterwards? do you simply re-prime it?
@WarpGateStudios6 ай бұрын
You don’t have to clean it as the palettes should still have a texture to work on! Eventually the paint may build up but a quick wipe with isopropyl will get the paint off or it may even peel off it you have enough of it.

This looks fantastic, but how is this slapchop? Slapchop uses a black or dark primer with a light grey drybrush followed by a white drybrush and then you paint with speedpaints or contrast paints. The whole purpose is to let the primer and drybrush create extra shadows and depth. This video has zero steps from slapchop. It's just standard painting with stippling and airbrushing.
@WarpGateStudios9 ай бұрын
For me Slapchop is a use of Zenithal colors to then use as a natural light change and allow for blending quickly. I use the dotting method and airbrush blending to create a quick effective blending method. Im sorry if the title hoodwinked you into thinking something else.
