Old Man Kearsley, with a grin so wide, Loved his Moto Guzzi, his joy and his pride! Every year, when the sun shines the longest, he'd point his front wheel, and off he'd be led! To Plain, Washington, a place of great cheer, The Touratech Rally, Kearsley held dear. His Guzzi, it rumbled, a happy "putt-putt," Through valleys and mountains, it never got stuck! He'd packed his tent, a bright, stripy affair, With a comfy old sleeping bag, soft as a bear. He'd pitch it so proudly, right there on the ground, The best camping spot, could never be found! The riders would gather, a colorful crew, On bikes big and small, shiny and new. They'd talk about engines, and tires, and gears, And Kearsley would listen, with wide, happy ears! He'd share stories of trips, both long and so grand, Of deserts and mountains, and faraway land. He'd chuckle and wink, with a twinkle so bright, "The best rides," he'd say, "are done just for delight!" He'd eat campfire chili, and drink steaming tea, And listen to tales, told wild and so free. He'd laugh with the riders, 'til late in the night, His heart full of joy, and his spirit so light! Three nights he would camp, 'neath the Washington stars, Then pack up his Guzzi, and leave without scars. His heart full of memories, happy and grand, 'Til next year's adventure, in that wonderful land! So here's to old Kearsley, a rider so bold, Whose stories and laughter, will never grow old. He rides for the joy, and the friends that he's made, A Touratech legend, a spirit un-fraid!

I can not adjust mine at all - they won't budge and I feel like if I exert any more force, I'll just break them. Tinkering with the little screw doesn't change anything. Please advise! I can't see!

On my bike I have the original bmw low crash bars. My question is...should I use the spacer or not? Because the instructions say not to use it only if you use the toutatech low crash bars. Thanks for the answer and compliments for the video

Thanks for a great video. I've watched it more than once and will watch it again when it comes time to do my forks. A question, though, how do you ensure your forks are straight once they're back in the triple clamps? Would slipping the axle in prior to tightening be sufficient?

For final loading of the GPX file into the unit there isn't really an alternative, unless you setup Garmin Explore and sync it through the cloud. For planning routes I really like OnX and Google mymaps to share them with people who don't pay for an OnX subscription.

Considering the Magura Hydraulic clutch for my KTM 890 Adventure. Only concern is having to cut the stock wires. Like others, I wish it had a connector at both ends. Any solution for putting a quick connect at both ends once you cut wires? Thanks for great install video.

I put one of these on my 850GSA two years ago. After approx 15,000kms riding to the Arctic Circle from Vancouver BC and the Continental Divide from BC to New Mexico, the metal had fatigued and actually tore/broke on both sides just above the mounting points. Riding was 60% highway and 40% groomed gravel forestry road stuff. Nothing really nasty. There is a decent amount of vibration which likely led to the failure.

I’ve been working on installing the crash bar reinforcements, following both the instruction video and manual. However, they feel quite loose on the crash bar, and both sides move back and forth along the engine bar. I tried tightening the clamp, but the head of the bolt is getting stripped. Any advice on how to address this? Just to confirm, the left and right references in the instructions are based on the rider’s perspective while seated, correct?

Best tip, take an old Africa Twin, a Transalp or a Tenere to Africa, not a GS, GS are for Europe.

I take the shock off my 890R by taking the chain guard off, it comes out the left side. Didnt loosen anything but shock bolts. The forks, I just took the caps off, pulled the damper and spring up, loosed the locking nuts, unscrewed them and pulled the spring out the top. No need to do anything else. Dont take the forks off the bike.

I only wonder, will the bike sag 30mm just from adding loaded luggage................and thus tip over off the kickstand? Or does it take full rider weight?

This video does not talk at all about replacing the main fasteners that hold the whole rear turn signal / blind spot radar / license plate assembly to the bike’s subframe. After removing the final bolts holding the Vario pannier mounts, (they were the third Vario mounting point underneath the fender and are not used to mount the Touratech racks) - the BMW bolts are too long to bolt the assembly back to the subframe after removing the Vario racks. You will need to find some shorter fasteners or some spacers, neither are provided with the kit. If you don’t put any fasteners in here, the whole rear assembly is loose and flopping around. Also the instructions for stashing the wires are wrong - the “middle” bolts that the mechanic in the video removed have nothing to do with the sub fender, they only hold the BMW grab rail in place. There’s a completely separate set of bolts in the sub fender that you have to remove so the assembly comes loose. Then there are four more zip ties that have to be cut, two on each side otherwise you can’t even move the wires. This video could use some work, especially since the kit does not come with any sort of printed instructions.

Not yet seen a video explaining just that, and if you just want to remove the vario racks you will also need to replace one very long bolt on each side.

@hansbakken5805 100% Correct; just installed mine yesterday. At first I thought I'd made an error but then realised what those two extra T40 bolts were for. It would look ridiculous if you used spacers to use the original bolts. Luckily I have a number of bolt sets and had two shorter bolts of the correct thread to replace them with and hold the rear assembly (used threadlock to be sure). The two T25 (I think) bolts (way up inside the tail assembly moulding at a bit of an angle) do provide some fixation of the assembly but not enough on their own. As for the wires, 100% again. You pretty much have to pull that rear assembly apart and clip two sets of cable ties to release those cables enough to relocate them inside. Touratech have been doing this for a while so I'm sure they'll address this deficiency in time.

I do wonder, if the bike settles 30mm with weight on it, and has the stock kickstand. Wouldnt the weight of full luggage lower the bike some with out the rider on it? Meaning the bike would be wanting to be too upright on stock kickstand? I have the 890R.
