I just bought these new wider ones and gona instal them now 🤞hopefully its easy. Now please update the older gravel small width inserts to be 1 piece water sealed foam just like these. I kept having them expand in size and needing to trim 3 times and then learning that it need to be lathered in sealant to not dry and expand.

Currently on the barzo/mezcal combo for my xc hardtail, but want a bit more grip for my local sandy/loose gravel trails. Would the agarro front and rear be a good setup for increased grip over my current tires while maintaining a relatively efficient high speed ride? I ride the roads to my trails and dont want something crazy aggressive.

Did my first time effort of gluing tubulars to my front and rear wheels using Mastic Pro. Only required one coat of glue to the rim and one to the tyre base tape, which is different to what others seem to do. It went reasonably well except for the glue getting onto the rim side walls and breaking surfaces. Contrary to what the instructions say its impossible to wash off the glue with water, did the best I could but it looks messy. Didn't like the applicator tubes, next time I'll buy a tub of glue instead. All in all I'm quite happy with my effort, can't wait to try them out in a couple of days. Hopefully the tubulars will stay on! :))

Installation time on Syntace W33 rim with Maxxis Rekon was 5min - without the need of a compressor. I would say it was easier than without the airliner.

It does not for shit go on easily. Every trick in the book and still 100x harder than nukeproof. Luck of the draw on rim/tire combo. This is misleading for sure. Having said that, it's worth the trouble and once you have straps and good plastic leavers its ok. I also cooled the rim and heated the tire, applied grease to tire bead. I need wood clamps to get the compression to remove the tire.

Cute video but I've been installing Airliner and Airliner XC with just my fingers and one tire lever with no problems. Really good insert engineering, probably why they're more expensive than a tire per wheel.

It says Vittoria tire size 2.35, but when measuring with a caliper 2.25?

Depends on your internal rim width. Every tyre size has a "preferred" rim width which is usually around half the tyre stated size. It's also not actually in inches, it's a standardised iso. So 2.35x27.5 is 57-584 with 57 being the tyre width in mm (2.24inches), and 584 (22.9 inches) being the wheel diameter in mm. 27.5 is not a real size but is closest to the wheel+2.6 tyre. I currently have super wide rims with regular 2.35 mezcals and they measure close to 2.5

As a former team mechanic & professional mechanic for 35 years i'm shocked that Vittoria feel this very poor mechanic is a good source to make such content. I can assure you this was poor. Many of todays younger mechanics are, compared to real mechanics of the past.

You need super wide tyres with knobs. It really doesn't matter too much which you go for just go for the biggest your tyre can handle. This combo would work, I probably wouldn't go for anything lighter.

The need to use these pliers is 1 step away from an admission of failure in tyre &/or rim design. I have a pair of the same thing by Cyclus and only when the tyre is a stupidly tight fit on the rim do I get these out of the drawer. It should not be admitted as a normal part of tyre fitting. Perhaps tyre liners are a stupid idea anyway. Especially for road bikes.
