I had heard that Leia's "British" accent is her code-switching when speaking in a diplomatic situation (her first meeting with Vader and speaking with Tarkin), since the accent is used by Imperial higher-ups and she is a diplomat for the Imperial senate. She drops the accent once Alderaan is blown up and she's rescued by Luke and Han.

Sheet you want some 80's movies no problemo! How about another Arnie classic. With Conan the Barbarian. RIP to James Earl Jones (who was also the voice of Darth Vader, he recently passed away). Predator. Commando and these are just Arnie's movies. You also got Alien and Aliens, the sequel Aliens has Michael Bein (guy who played Kyle Reese). Lethal Weapon. Some classic comedies like Back to the Future, (the entire trilogy is worth it. IMO) Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, and the greatest fourth wall-breaking classic movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off. I'm also pretty sure these movies will boost your viewership as well they are all very popular.

If you really want to ditch the trend of just watching all the substandard films after the first sequel, but want to spend a little more time in the Terminator world, I can't recommend enough the TV series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Really great show, miles better than the films T3 and after.

It’s a very common trope of the Hero’s Journey to have a mentor sacrifice themselves for the hero. Lucas follows it pretty well. There’s a book by Christopher Vogler called “the Writer’s Journey,” published in 1992. In it, among other examples, he uses Luke’s journey as a good example of how to structure a screenplay based on Joseph Campbell’s original work. When the actors asked Lucas how names and terms were pronounced, he said pronounce them how you think- he wanted the galaxy to sound real, even if there were “mistakes.”

I really enjoy your videos reactions :) I just wanted to say to not forget to get the "extented cut" for Terminator 2. By the way, I also like Terminator 3. Its only crime was just not be as good as the first 2 ;) Also, I think you should react to the star wars films in "machete order" (great for 1st view). It goes like this : -episode 4,5 -then episode 1,2,3 : the prequels as flashbacks -Rogue one -and only then episode 6 as it was always meant to be watched at last since it's the conclusion ^^ I would aslo like to suggest for you to react to the "Indiana jones trilogy" (also written by Georges Lucas) and "The matrix trilogy" (if you've never seen them before of course)

Thanks Marie! Okay T2 Extended coming right up! I'll think about doing the machete order... I did see the prequels when i was a kid so it wouldn't strictly be a 'first time watch' but my memory is so vague it would be nice to revisit them. The machete order sounds like a really cool way to experience the saga too. So maybe we'll just go for it! Indiana jones and the Matrix are totally on the list (more trilogies I can't believe I haven't seen!).

The idea of Vader being Luke’s father wasn’t original, in fact Leia wasn’t his sister at this point, it was only during the filming of Empire when the director of the movie (wasn’t Lucas, it was Irvin Kershner) suggested Vader being Luke’s father and Lucas signed off on it. When Jedi came around Lucas wanted another twist and THAT’s when Luke and Leia became twins.

Never watched the movie or read the book. So, I had to figure out the finale through deduction. Yes, Chigurh killed Carla Jean (he was checking his shoes on the porch). But she didn't call the coin toss. That changed his karma and caused him to now follow in Llewellyn Moss's wake. Analyzing the clues: Moss crashed in the truck, bought a coat from a young man, and perished off screen. Chigurh crashed in the car, bought a shirt from a young man, and soon to also perish off screen. Great reaction!

I always say that "No Country For Old Men" is about morality. Moss is moral, but very flawed. Because of that, Moss dies. Chigurh is amoral and believes in random violence. In the end, Chigurh is a victim of random violence with a bone sticking out of his arm. The bone sticking out of his arm indicates that he will die soon because he can't seek proper help in the hospital. I remember the book states that he was never found, which leads us to conclude that the cartel disposed of Chigurh's body. The last man standing is Bell, who doesn't realize that he came out on top because he is the most moral person of the the film. There is no indication of any moral flaws in Bell's character. Bell always tries to do the right thing and worries about defeating evil. Bell worries about God never finding him, but his God is his moral integrity, which he never abandons. Moral people worry about the evil in the world often without realizing when they are doing well. His dream in the end indicates that he is following the path of another moral man, his father, who is saving a spot for him (John 14).
@carryontom
@carryontom Күн бұрын
Fantastic conclusion, that makes so much sense and I have to read the book now. I discover something new every time I think about this movie. The irony of chasing down a man for stolen money and then giving $100 for the boys shirt.... yeah he knew he was done for. That's interesting what you say about the dream at the end; my original interpretation was that Bell was attempting to follow in his father's footsteps, but the dream ends before he can catch up, signifying he's unable to join him on the same podium. He can't be the same lawman his father was because it's a different time, and morality was much simpler when his father was around. It's an incredibly layered story, and one that gives a little bit extra every time you think about it!

Thanks and happy belated birthday, Tom! 🎉 Yes, I think she lived. 🔸 As someone who adores the work of writers/directors/brothers Joel Coen and Ethan Coen, not all their stuff is this bleak. 😨 They also do really well with mixing humor and profundity. For that vibe, check our RAISING ARIZONA (1987), FARGO (1996), THE BIG LEBOWSKI (1998), O BROTHER WHERE ART THOU (2000) and THE BALLAD OF BUSTER SCRUGGS (2018). For the mostly stern with a flashes dark wit try the one that put them on the map BLOOD SIMPLE (1984), an excellent remake of a John Wayne classic TRUE GRIT (2010) and INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS (2013).

The rubber eyebrow prosthetics show the hair is burned off his face. From that point, Arnold is wearing a “burned hair” wig created by makeup artist Jack Bricker. Around the midpoint of the film, the Terminator’s heart (pumping blood to his skin) dies, and so does his skin, which turns green and begins to putrify! That’s why he’s green, and the motel owner asks if he has “a dead cat in there, or what?” It’s a subtle detail that many didn’t notice (including me, until a friend pointed it out). Very clever science fiction storytelling.

Terminator 3 is okay. I find it more entertaining than the last two films. Same with Salvation (terminator 4). My favourite is the first movie, followed by 2, then hmm, 4 and 3. I prefer to ignore 5 and 6. From interviews I heard Arnold had a lot of ideas and passion about how the actor playing the terminator should act. He was supposed to play Kyle, but because of his enthusiasm for the terminator character he ended playing him. One of his ideas was to move his head left and right with his eyes following in delay, like he is scanning the surroundings when he is in the cop car. Similar movement to a security camera. You can joke all you want but seems playing a machine might not be that easy. About the latex, fake, puppet head, I agree it's better than cgi since it's real, someone built it. And a lot of people laughed at it, that it looks bad, but i guess they never saw a video of a real accident where a guy split his face in two. Was the most disgusting thing I wish I could unsee. Remember Arnie crashed hard, it makes sense that his face looks bad from the wear and tear.

1. Sir. Alec Guinness/Obi-Wan didn't want the part. Being a Shakespearian actor, he thought the entire idea was silly and was beneath him, but his wife talked him into taking the part. 2. The shrug Chewy gives Luke after he scares the tiny black droid is 🤣 3. These movies were put out in a certain order because there was limited technology and Lucas used and pushed forward the images needed to make a quality product. The best way to watch the is in the order they came out. We had to wait years for the next one. There was no internet where we had access to them whenever we wanted. 4. No need to go into anything after VI. Disney took over and the quality dropped. I realize you have to. 5. The only CGI was put in for the 25th anniversary package in this film are the critters the stormtroopers were riding at the beginning of the search for the droids a couple of the huge critters outside the pub, the scene with Jabba the Hutt and other minor changes, including increasing the volume of the stormtrooper hitting his head. Those were put in later after CGI was available. Otherwise, everything is what we had in 1977. 6. Obi-Wan sacrificed himself after he told Vader he would be stronger than ever. He went back into the force. He knows it's Luke's job to take over. 7. The awkwardness in the detention space is because Ford didn't know his lines. It was kept in the movie anyway because it worked. 8. RIP James Earl Jones😇 9. IMVHO the next two are the best of the series. Enjoy
