Finally, nearly every epistle begins by saying, "To the Saints..." These are not addressed to Catholics but rather to those called and sanctified. Who are the church, the body of Christ. The fullness of him who fills everything in every way. If we are not prepared to fellowship in his sufferings are we looking forward to the "better resurrection" spoken of by Paul? To be "kept from trial" is God has prepared a place for us or provided a way out. Whether we are caught up to heaven or flee to a place in the desert do we not belong to him because we are called to the sufferings of Christ bearing his name? A light shining in the darkness whom the darkness cannot overcome? So whether we live or we die we belong to the Lord. First the resurrection of those belonging to him, after that those who remain at his appearing will meet him while he is on the way in the clouds who are his witnesses and the Father who is the shikinah cloud. Therefore let us call upon the name of the Lord and be saved. A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you. 8 Only with your eyes shall you look, And see the reward of the wicked. 9 Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place, 10 No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; 11 For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways. 12 In their hands they shall [a]bear you up, Lest you [b]dash your foot against a stone. 13 You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot. 14 “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will [c]set him on high, because he has known My name. 15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. 16 With [d]long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation.” Of this I am certain, Nothing is hidden from God's sight and his eyes are on us to keep us and he is with us in all our trouble.

For what children are not disciplined by their father? 8If you are not disciplined-and everyone undergoes discipline-then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all. 9Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of spirits and live! 10They disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness. 11No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. 12Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees. 13“Make level paths for your feet,” b so that the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed. A highway will be there; it will be called the Way of Holiness; it will be for those who walk on that Way. The unclean will not journey on it; wicked fools will not go about on it. 9No lion will be there, nor any ravenous beast; they will not be found there. But only the redeemed will walk there, 10and those the Lord has rescued will return.
