This set of 120 seals was a gift to the Qianlong Emperor to celebrate his eightieth birthday. To flatter the emperor, the Grand Councillor Heshen (1750-1799) selected from the emperor's poems 120 auspicious phrases that contain the character for longevity (shou), and each seal, made of a precious stone, bears one of these elegant phrases. The number 120 conveys the wish that the emperor could live to one hundred and twenty years of age.

The ancient Basilica Cistern has 336 stone columns and is one of the largest ground water reservoirs. It was built by the Byzantine Emperor during his reign from 527 to 565 AD as a source of daily drinking water for Istanbul citizens at that time.

Manatees are more closely related to elephants. Like elephants, they can live up to 70 years. Manatees and dugongs are known as sea cows because they spend lots of time feeding on vegetation, just like cows do. Their upper lip is split and used for grasping vegetation. They have teeth with a large surface to grind tough plant matters. Manatees are able to replace worn out teeth throughout their life. Our largest manatee, a female, weighs about 1,200kg and eats some 100kg of food daily. Manatees and dugongs can eat 8 to 10% of their body weight in a day.
