How hard is it to physically crimp with this tool? It looks like these will fit in places the big plier looking type won't. I'm looking at these and a clamper. I just feel the clamps would be better.
@cisnerofam0823 күн бұрын
If I'm being honest I can get a bit tough in hard to reach places, in those places I do use two hands. In open places I can use one hand to crimp.
@inscoredbz19 күн бұрын
One hand to crimp sounds pretty easy, or at least not like the ones that look like bolt cutters.

I know this video is super old but hopefully someone can answer my question! I installed the Level 8 Bully Pro on my Jeep Wrangler back in 2017. Now 7 years later (2024), my current mounted tire are worn out and need to be replaced. My question is: Do I need to remove the rim protector to replace the tires? Or will it be possible to replace my tires without needing to remove the rim protector? I haven't touched those screws since I installed them 7 years ago and even thought they haven't corroded much, I'm not sure I want to deal with removing 100 of them! Thanks!

I developed Dow Chemical’s specification for welding galvanized steel in 1985 as per the requirements of AWS D1.1. And AMSE Sec IX. In a nutshell, burn the galvanizing off all sides of the weldment by at least 2” followed by grinding the ash off to bright metal. At that time all structural steel was coming into our Midland MI plant galvanized so it was obvious a qualified specification needed to be developed. The first serious problem of only grinding off the galvanized was that the zinc contaminated the grinding wheels, smearing the zinc. When zinc is heat to melting it drives into surface imperfections and-as the heat is increased to over 1200*F cracking is caused from the action of the zinc contamination remaining. This was discovered when fitters were bending 3/4” U-bolts from galvanized rod. They ground the galvanizing off visually and heated the rods to bend. During bending these rods ALL CRACKED and BROKE very similar to stress corrosion cracking. When I had the fitters burn the galvanizing off and grind the ash off to bright metal, no cracking occurred!
@cisnerofam086 ай бұрын
This is very good input!
@SeldomFales6 ай бұрын
@@cisnerofam08 if the above spec is followed there is absolutely no problem or concern with weldability or structural integrity using either SMAW or GMAW1

The question is whether the primer maintains it's rust protection characteristics. Good old rustoleum high heat primer (2000 degrees) is the old stand by. bare metal where you weld but primed back sides.

GET YOUR DEALER TO DO IT FOR FREE. For 2007-2011 Wranglers, there is a recall on this. Check the two NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V288000 and 13V176000. My dealership was going to charge me $1600+ for a new airbag on my 2011 Jeep Wrangler. I had to ask 3 different advisors to have the "technician" check the clockspring first. They finally checked and replaced the clockspring under the recall with no cost to me.

Well done video. I am getting ready to build a retaining wall basically covering rock wall that has been falling apart. I am using 3/8"x 3"x3" 4'-6' tall galvanized angle(posts) I am going to weld to 3/8"x4"x6" galvanized plate(bottom plate). I was a naval shipyard weldor for 25 years and am retired but am confident I can accomplish this. I sold my commercial welding equipment but still own a Maxstar140ST which should suffice for this. As you suggested I will be stick welding after cleaning the material. I purchased some acid to remove the galvanizing where I am welding. Not a good idea to burn any zinc and breath it but sometimes we had to and were instructed to drink milk when we got sick from it. We sometimes worked in tanks with inadequate ventilation and I remember stick welding stainless steel, nickel copper, copper nickel alloys which gave me headaches.

Can this be done with a 110v mig welder?
@cisnerofam0811 ай бұрын
Not all mig welders are created equal, so my best advice would be to look at the chart provided by the welding machine and see what is the maximum steel thickness it can weld. From my experience most 110V welders can only weld up to 3/16" thick steel. You want to use something that can weld at a minimum 1/4" thick steel.

Awesome, well done edit and speed up in mundane spots. I’m In the middle of welding mine up with all new brackets and truss . Adjusting the pinion angle with stock CV drive shaft to double cardon adams DS only makes the springs bow worse. I think I’ll mock my axle up with just new Clayton control arms, het perfect pinion angle for the adams, then take three angle measurements of the bump stop base. Full droop, 50% compressed and full compression. The 50% compression angle should be 1/2 the difference of the suspensions arc. That is where the spring perch gets set angle wise. It don’t need to be perfect tho.. just functional , look right, and no interference within suspension s travel.
