You’re probably the only pastor I have saw on KZbin that has spoken on this issue that is plaguing the church and preventing Gods people from showing up to his house. I would add that the Church is at fault as a whole because the system in itself perpetuates spiritual abuse. I found my healing from secular people as they were more emphatic and compassionate while the church (different denominations) victim blamed and constantly shoved the Bible in my face and excused the behavior of the pastor for “not being perfect” The way to find healing is time, prayer to Jesus, and professional help. People who are licensed psychiatrist and psychologist have more knowledge and experience with how the psyche is effected and damaged after being a victims of spiritual abuse and can give the best tools to help the person with healing because abuse effects everyone differently. God through his infinite wisdom blessed us with trained people who can give understanding and tools that pastor’s may not be able to give. Some people can’t even read their Bible after because they are so traumatized so pushing the Bible in their face after being abused with the Bible can unintentionally perpetuate the abuse. I used to love going to church and that has been tainted for the time being. I am not sure if I would ever see church the same. I will say that my faith in Christ is stronger than it’s ever been though and that’s what matters the most. I still go to church but like you and your wife I just want to show up hear the word and go home for the time being. Thank you for what you’re doing, this will help so many of God’s sheep that have been and will be spiritually abused.
