I would probably have loved the depths if it weren't for THEM ( the gloom hands).

First time I encountered gloom hands, it was while I was climbing up to a shrine that had a tree branch you could climb. I was trying to make it to kakariko village because I knew it existed in botw. The sky turned red and they appeared behind a nearby hill. I went to the last save I had because I failed to climb the tree branch. I eventually got to the shrine. I think the gloom hands noticed me. I heard them scream again. I went into the shrine and hid food an hour of real time. REAL TIME! Finally I came back out. I was completely not worth it. All I got as a reward was some boring "Ring Ruins" lore.

Ok, I know this vid is four years old... but I HAD to make a comment. When you said, "I saved the most important fact for last..." I thought it would be something cool... then you showed the nude Link and I laughed and said, "You're an idiot." Fantastic video! I need that book.

Vivan is not trans he's just a crossdressing boy. Even his japanese text brings mentions that he's a boy with a the heart of "cute girl". Implying he's aware of his sex but likes to be effeminate. In no way does that mean he sees himself as a girl born in the wrong body.

one thing puts the gloom hands above all else for me. Everybody has a unique encounter. Unlike the guardians which you get told about and you have that scripted encounter with them on the great plateau, there's not mention of the gloom hands until much later in the game and most people will not come across the same one for their first time but will almost always die in that first encounter. There's no way to detect them besides just keeping an eye out for ruins with no monsters. They are so much rarer than the guardians that they are unexpected EVERY time. There's no explanation until you defeat them and spawn phantom ganon making all the more mysterious. Add that to everything else and they are the most scary enemy by far.

For me personally, it's the Zant's Hands. Not their appearance, of course, and not necessarily their behavior. Functionally, they're somewhat easy to evade and it's not that difficult to slow them down and reclaim the Sols from them. But that MUSIC that plays when they get near you is PURE NIGHTMARE FUEL. I don't care that it's a single scare chord on loop, it's FREAKY! The first time I played the Palace of Twilight as a kid, I cowered in fear of them. I would mute the television and play through the Sol segments completely soundless because of the severe anxiety that music gave me. And because the music's intensity depended on the hand's proximity, the hand itself was still the source of terror. Also, doors don't save you?! They can phase through walls?! When oh when will I be safe from them, I wondered! There has never been any point in any Zelda game that terrified me more than when I encountered them. Sure, I get freaked out by Guardians and Gloom Spawn, but they don't TERRIFY me the way those Zant's Hands did. Those lethargic limbs and their lousy looping leitmotif invoked some primal fear in me that no Zelda enemy has recreated since. So with that being said... I'm looking forward to how the Zelda developers outdo themselves next!

First, I've been a fan for what feels like a really, really long time: This video, for some reason, is a perfect storm of feeling and production value. I know what you're thinking: it's just a Top 10 video to fill the space between now and when we get to finally play Tears of The Kingdom (now out for quite a while, which I've been finally playing). Simply put, I can't say whether it's your best video, but I'm struggling to recall the last time one of your videos made me feel something quite this way. It might help that there's an overarching theme of what these games were all about and why we fell in love with them. Second, I wanted to make an honorable mention of my own that dovetails nicely to your entry on Demise's Curse. It makes me unexpectedly emotional every time I think of it. You are playing with Fi throughout the entire game. Like a Navi redo that is less annoying, she's providing you analytical data while occasionally throwing out more human responses as time passes. Then she wallops you at the end of the game before sealing herself away - forever - with the Master Sword with this final quote - the culmination of the time sunk with an entity that, before you knew it, became - more than just your guide and partner in Skyward Sword, but - your friend, "I have come to consider the information to our time together among the most precious data I have on record. I do not have the capability to fully understand the human spirit. But now, at the end of my journey with you, as I prepare to sleep within the Master Sword forever, I experience a feeling I’m unable to identify. "I lack sufficient data to be sure of my conclusion, but I believe this feeling correlates closest to what your people call … happiness" Every. Fucking. Time.

I searched up "Arbiter" and it means "judge". I thought that was interesting because of the executions that were mentioned. I feel like judges send others to a punishment so to speak.

IIRC, Nintendo said Age of Calamity is canon. It should not be an alternate timeline and is probably the “the day is saved” ending every Zelda game has. Since in BotW and TotK you’re too late to really save it. The eggbot uses a time portal to time travel, and the only time travel that makes an alternate timeline is when Zelda sent Link back in OoT (which never made sense given everything we do in that game and Majora’s Mask regarding time travel, fanon attempts to fix this are thoughtless).

The place with the 6 dragon heads you pointed out is interesting, because in TOTK that's where you demonstrate the water sage power. The one luminous stone might've been a reference to Zora/water, since the Domain is basically built on luminous stones, but I'm not sure if that even means anything.

2:40 "Locations with this type of tree": That is a weeping willow. I used to have one in my back yard. Though it would have been cool to have her ghost, I think they decided to restrict apparitions to sage/champion types and royalty.

considering how the localization teams have meddled with the overall plot/tones from the original script to insert things not present in the jp version, ehhhh.

They are the magic users in Twilight Princess that almost took the sacred realm. Hylia punished them. They were wearing the Dark Link outfit and funny how they sell it.

Here are Top 5 reasons why Zelda - Wind Waker would make more sense as a Wii launch title: • Nintendo fans (as well as Miyamoto) were actually not yet ready nor motivated for a Toon Link to appear on the GameCube. • Zelda as seen in a Spaceworld 2000 demo needed to be the next sequel for GameCube. • By the time the Wii comes out, Zelda - Wind Waker would actually have all the given time to be 100% complete with the scrapped dungeons and all being in the game. • The Wii is powerful enough to graphically implement transparent bodies of water for Link to swim and dive in. • The Wii is more fitting because the Wii remote would be for players to motion Link's wind baton, and to steer the sailboat.

After all these games where Link kind of only cares about Zelda people are still questioning whether or not they're "meant to be" or whatever? Link has the triforce of courage, it's all his choice he simply has the courage to do whatever he desires and he always desires saving the princess. This isn't Mario and Peach, where she constantly calls for him and then friend zones him. This is clearly boy and girl like each other, but as young people are awkward about it as is tradition.

Am I the only one who finds shipping to be gross? I don't know why I do, I just do. It just makes me feel uncomfortable. I guess I don't understand why people care so much about the possibility of a romantic relationship between two fictional characters. As soon as any character in any media shows any sign of empathy towards another character, they immediately get shipped by the fandom. Are people not allowed to be good friends with each other? To be fair, the "Zelink" (my skin crawls when I say ship names) one does make sense, and is one of the rare ships in which I actually understand why people would ship them.

perhaps a reason there are no statues under settlements is that they were excavated to dust when the mines under every settlement were made (every village except the fort place has a mine under it in the depths)
