Sounds great! Are those Lollars standard P90 or 50s wind?
@docrock666
@docrock666 5 ай бұрын
Hi, thank you. It's a mismatched set. I like the neck P90 a bit more transparent, so i chose the 50ies wind. The bridge pickup is overwound, approx. 10k, like my favorite P90 in my 55 Junior. Lollars are superb. I had a LP Special with the Lollar neck with P90 Alnico rod magnets, which was awesome too.

Hi, thanks. I don't have final conclusions, since I had not the chance to check it out in band rehearsals yet. I will do this later this week and tell you. The second channel of the Hot Cat sounds rich and harmonic, the clean channel sounds a bit glassier and spankier compared to my Friedmans, I like it.

@@docrock666 thanks, I've been wanting a portable head for band practices and considered the jake e lee 20 watt friedman vs the hot cat or lynx vs soldano Slo30 or bogner 3534. Really intrigued by the hot cat. The lynx seems way too gainy
@docrock666
@docrock666 11 ай бұрын
@@asianaxeman yes I had the same impression that the Lynx may be too modern Metal for my taste. I also considered the Mini Jake E Lee amp, since I love his playing and Friedman Amps in general. I also had the SLO 30 as portable amp for gigs but I always preferred my Friedman BE50 and BE100dlx because of the three channels. The Hot Cat could be a compromise because with two channels with two gain stages each it yields four basic sounds.

Hi, Christian, vielen Dank.

So Doc, How are you liking that amp? I'll most likely be buying that same amp in a few months. Do you think that, that amp, replicates the modded marshall plexi tones well? Sure seems to, to me. What kind of 4x12 speaker cabinet are you running? I'm looking to buy the Friedman Cab with 2 Greenbacks on the top, and 2 vintage 30's on the bottom. I've read countless reviews about how good those speaker cabinets sound, but have never heard one in person.
@docrock666
@docrock666 5 жыл бұрын
Hi, Sonny, i've been playing it for a bit more than a half year now. I really dig the tones, even at lower volumes. What i don't like is that it has no overall master volume (the so called masters are actually channel volumes) or even a second master for solos, which i had for decades in my Engl Savage. I fix this with my TC electronic g major2.
@docrock666
@docrock666 5 жыл бұрын
Don't know if it replicates a plexi, never played one. Some that i heared tended to get a muddy low end at higher distortion/ volume. The BE is tight. This is the Friedman V30/Greenback 4x12 cab. I bought one for the band. When i tried it at home, i had to buy a second one, lol. What i dont like is that it has no slide on casters like Bogner or Diezel, especially when considering the price.

Hi, Jim, congrats, have fun! So it may vary in details. But you will most likely have a different cab and guitar, so the settings are maybe less relevant anyways. And this was at room volume, so it´s not als lively and punchy as at rehearsal volume. It´s nearly impossible to get a bad sound out of it ;-)
