I think that introduction with the Zanketsu into point blank Mega Flare is one of the more aggressive plays I've seen to begin the fight.

Been a bit, but I think I was using Doubled-Edged Sword, Doubled-Edged Sword+, and Sp. Weapon ATK Enhancer+.

The essential ones here are Weapon Bay, Melee Weapon Damage, and Direct Hit Damage. Boost Kick, Damage Mitigation, and Repair Kit Effectiveness are also high priority. You can max out OS Tuning about two-thirds of the way through NG+.
