Personally i prefer 76s vats with grenades. It allows you to properly time when and where it detonates against your enemy. 4s vats slowdown makes it harder to gauge bc you have to basically wait until its right on the enemy to aim at it in Vats and if you do it too early you could easily blow it up midair making it a waste

Go to Big Johns Salvage, kill all the mutants, leave, sleep, return 2 game days later and clear it again after it resets except there is the railway rifle in the blue ...connex... big steel box used for transporting cargo... railway car.... lol... couldnt think of what it was called, just drop into it, I think it was tricky to get atop it but could be confusing it with another location there. That one is hard to get though, just go to Bedford Station after reaching like level 20 or 30. It will be there in a..... (get this).... Blue railway car.... coincidence? But wait, there is more, you can get the Gauss rifle just by following the tracks, you will also find some X01 (whatever) power armor on the way in.... you guessed it, railway cars... blue! That rifle leaves the railway rifle in the dust, far more powerful, better accuracy, able to one shot most "boss" creatures by stealth vats sniper shot to eye and ammo is more plentiful and range is way superior. Only good thing about the railway rifle is you can kill 9 with 1 shot and the critical hit sound effect is way cool. For railway rifle, you want bloody mess perk. Wont go through super mutant armor though, but raiders hate it, and you can "spike" three synth torsos to a wall with a single shot too, with the perk it just takes the torsos and keeps moving.

For those unaware. Canonically Norma (thats her canon name) was a lawyer pre-war. While Nate (thats his canon name) was a Soldier. Also Canonically Norma wouldn't be able to use power armour due to the rigorous training needed but for gameplay purposes they just allowed it as it would seem sexist so they removed the training aspect of the lore. (Before people start screaming, that it was only FO3 and NV that needed training, its literally stated in the lore you need rigorous training as stated in FO1 and FO2 it states soldier needed training to fight in power armour, it was FO4 that changed the fumula because the real world was going through the whole SJW phase ((still is)) they changed it to a Chasis which needs a fusion core and aparently no training)
