@cylobsonicresearch10 күн бұрын
No. You can see the interface for that in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pYDMho2uZ6eDftU I just added the ability to send the phoneme type to the Fumana patch in order to sequence the bands. The original vocal synthesis controlled by that interface is based on a LPF and two BPFs and can be heard on the album "Formant Potaton".

I guess you have done the same thing with a bank of BPFs in SC... how did it compare? have you recreated any of your speech synth in modular? (I am a modular skeptic, but people who are really into it aswell as being adept with SC or MSP or something, make me wonder what I'm missing.)
@cylobsonicresearch24 күн бұрын
No, not yet. I did add the option to send CV from my speech sequencer, and the sound from the modular was really special, but I think at some point I broke it somehow and I never bothered fixing it. I only made one brief recording of it as well. Thanks for reminding me, I should get it up and running again! For me it's about the sound.

Love these videos Cylob! Are you doing anything special for clock sync from your computer, so you can multitrack recorded parts? How are you going about recording passes of audio which are in time with your recorded audio?
@cylobsonicresearchАй бұрын
I start recording just before the track begins in the arrangement, then try to press play on time. Afterwards I shift the recording around until it lines up with the other tracks.

How do you deal with latency in your set-up, I mean not just in this patch but in general from comp to ES8 etc... is that even an issue since you are recording the wavs? I'm asking because I want to get ES* module but I think I'm unnecessarily worrying about latency, I sample/resample everything out also and nudge it in place if needed... I've created an unnecessary imaginary issue in my head I think after seeing reviews for the expert sleepers midi to modular interfaces. 🤣
@cylobsonicresearchАй бұрын
I don't ever think about it. I guess it's low enough. I'm using ES-3 / ES-6 modules anyway, which are just ADAT outputs / inputs.

It would be amazing to get a few jotted down notes/remembrances from version to version, re: your thought process driving the changes made between each. Honestly, I feel like that’d be an amazing exercise for me to undertake for my own output. Like a post-mortem play-by-play 😅
@cylobsonicresearchАй бұрын
I think it's best not to be over-analytical. I do enjoy looking back and seeing what decisions were made, for instance between the original bassline, which I ended up keeping, and the alternative one. I can't do a video like this for every track I've made, as they mostly consist of just adding more and more parts rather than changing and rerecording as in this one.
@CreeewDeeeTaaayАй бұрын
@@cylobsonicresearch gotcha! Yes, compiling a version-to-version review for every “finished” track would be incredibly exhausting, but it’s nice that you have the receipts for a few outliers. Even without commentary, it’s still incredibly interesting. Thanks for putting it together!

Absolutely WILD to see the changes from version to version, like it’s slowly coming into focus. How much time do you reckon passed from first to final versions?

Great track, thank you for sharing. Wanted to ask what is your mostly typical process of recording. Do you usually record multitrack live performance and then edit if needed each channel, or you do layer by layer recording or maybe live mix from the mixing desk into the computer (resulting in stereo channel). Thank you!
@cylobsonicresearchАй бұрын
You're welcome. Normally layer by layer. I would like to do more "performed" tracks, but I find it hard to do these days. 30 years ago it was the only way.

That's a really cool and creative use of VSTPlugin! SC really lets you explore this kind of advanced and unorthodox parameter modulation that would otherwise be very tedious in a conventional DAW. Personally, I got some really crazy sounds out of some VSTis simply by automating all parameters at random :) Anyway, this video is a fantastic showcase of what you can do with SC + VSTPlugin!
