Wow, this is just amazing! Perfect sound, re-arrangement and the supporting video amplifies it all! A tip to the hat.

Brooooo, the camera's quality is too good for the video to have this few views! Also the cover is great! Really professional! I wish this kind of music got more attention but well, at least some of us are lucky enough to know and appreciate the Smiths. Keep it up man, and I wish you the best :)

Having grown up in Manchester with the smiths I this is a great cover. I've played guitar 40 years and met Johnny Marr three times but this is great.

Thanks for taking the time to comment. I appreciate it! I also grew up in Manchester but never managed to meet Johnny Marr. I have always enjoyed his playing style and how he put the music for these songs together is total genius. I have always wanted to study and cover the songs and during the pandemic suddenly found the chance to put together and record a 5 track EP. The whole process was a joy for me and took me back quite a few years. I'm very appreciative that other people enjoy the result. Have you ever covered any of the songs? If so please let me know where to get a listen? In the meantime I wish you every success with your guitar playing journey. Many thanks and kind regards. JM.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. This video is a montage taken from the first 3 singles from an EP project of 5 songs of The Smiths. I was raised in Manchester and have been a fan of the band since their beginning. We undertook the project under lockdown and then had to isolate so did not get the opportunity to film a video for this songs release. I do plan on doing a live video of this track once gigs start to take off towards summer. I can assure you though that this is difficult to play and sing at the same time and I have spent a considerable amount of time learning how to do so. I love playing this music and can't wait to get out playing live again! Thanks again.

This is jsut the Love Spit Love version, famous for being Charmed song theme... you created a version of a version? You even used the echoed voices of the Love Spit Love version. BTW, who is playing the tremolo guitar part?
@johnnymitch8832 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrew, thanks for taking the time to comment. This track is one of five tracks from an EP of songs of The Smiths that I recorded and released under the head title Your Strange Ways (Spotify and KZbin). I was raised in Manchester and was a fan of their music from their very beginning. I undertook the project during the pandemic in isolation and had no live playing gigs. I wasn't aware of the Love Spit Love version until I applied for permissions and licensing had already recorded and noted that their version was on the list and must say I like it. I had focused on Johnny Marr and John Porter's (producer) notes from interviews for my inspiration to create the "Train" sound which I think is what you mean by echoed voices?This or these are slide guitar parts played on a 57 Fender Stratocaster at differing intervals (which took quite some time to analyse and figure) and then treated with reverse echo and reverb. The tremolo part (which I play) is from a Strymon Flint pedal on 65 Photo square wave tremolo and their 80's reverb (same pedal) and looped on (another pedal on my board) Eventide H9 max with EQ. It is difficult to play live with all the parts and for the time being the slide (Train) parts have been sampled. Overall my intention was to try as close as possible to emulate the sound of The Smith's as I wish to follow on by creating original music and lyrics inspired by their music. Thanks again. JM.

@@johnnymitch883 thank you for your reply. Seems a lot of hard work and I appreciate the effort. I will follow up as devoted fans we are of the same musicians. 1:13 you can hear the sound I am talking about. In LSL version is more llike a voice lament. Hope we can see you live soon.
