my home back in the days from 91-93. I was a chainsaw man for the first dorm which had a crew called Hotshots. Dorms 2 and 3 had a crew also, called TooTough and Hogs. Min 12:18 behind you was the mess hall and that entrance was where the KPs(Cooks) entered the building to the left was our classroom on weekdays and movie hall on weekends. At 12:26 was the office and every time you entered you had to ask permission, screaming " Permission to enter or exit sir/ma'am" the burnt building next to it was the FOs sleeping quarters. Every night there was an FO and crew on stand-by. I got busted for graffiti and had to do 6 months but since they loved adding extra time to your sentence( boots not shinny enough, GIG line crocked, bed not straight), I was there for 16 months. I thank this place for straightening me out, sad to see it like this. Is this place still there? It hasn't been demolished yet?
@909Adventures10 сағат бұрын
Yeah, unfortunately it was demolished a little over a year ago. But thats cool that some good came out of this place. Do you still use any of the certs that you got from being a chainsaw man? Also MTV did a show here a year or two befor they were shut down. Here is a link if you want to check it out. vimeo.com/39069740
@juanmartin141610 сағат бұрын
@@909Adventures Oh that sucks that it was demolished. After being released I applied for a position in a Fire camp named Camp 2 in La Cañada Flintridge. Unfortunately I didn't get the position. I went a different route were very minimal labor work is needed, in computers. I thank that place for changing my mindset.

That’s crazy too see it like that now, believe it or not when they decided to sell to the state me and my family used to live there I have old pictures of how it looked when it was maintained by my dad, we had livestock there too makes me sad, it was a childhood home I grew up there

Nice one Jeff! Kingman is a great little town to stop & visit for Rt66ers. they have a great liitle park across the street with an old steam engine train also.I didnt get to go inside this museum bc I didnt want to leave Yuki out and didnt bother to find out if they allow pets, while i visited so Im glad you put this out. Good job!
@909AdventuresКүн бұрын
I know I really wanted to check out that train, but I was losing light and still had a few more stops. But if you ever are in the area again, you definitely can take Yuki in with you.

Here's how I look things. Your subscribers are on your channel because we want to hear your version of the stories no matter how many times it's been done by others. We come to your channel first and may have not even seen the same story told by anyone else, even though it might be out there. So, the market being saturated by others already, probably doesn't mean a thing to your viewers. And if others who aren't subscribers yet see it, most likely it's because they searched for that topic, and since they watched your video, they had to have been interested. So being saturated doesn't mean a whole lot to me. There might be 500 channels doing that topic, but I only subscribe to say, maybe 10 channels, and none of the 10 channels I subscribed to did that topic yet. So, for me, watching your video would be the first time I would see it. So I still think it's important for you do the videos for your subscribers and even the ones who aren't subscribed yet. Heck, if they're going to search for a video that you may have just done, at least your video will be an option for them to click on. It beats no option, that's for sure. Anyway, the gas thing though is another story. I don't even know how you guys in California can even afford to drive to work. It's just ridiculous. I usually pay about 2.47 a gallon down here if I go to Sams Club. Even that can get expensive when you're filling up every other day because you've been driving all over the place for one video a day. So I totally get that. You're doing a great job Jeff. Don't get discouraged!!
@909Adventures2 күн бұрын
What $2.47 a gallon that is a great price. I think it is still $4.19 at the gas station here in my little town but if i drive out to the city which is what i usually do then it is about $3.72 so yes it is still expensive out here to driver around so of course this was one of the major factors into slowing down the explores in 24. however we did do some traveling last year not to far just to Vegas which is only about 3 hours from me and to see family in Arizona and i took every opportunity i had to film any and everything i could that fell with in my niche which i was able to expand on which is something i had been wanting to do. As of the last year and a half maybe two, KZbin had deemed "Urban Exploring" as dishonest behavior mostly because of the trespassing that goes along with it. They will not promote the video beyond ones audience which makes it impossible to grow. Part of the reason why i slowed down a little on the abandoned stuff was just to let the dust settle. Dont get me wrong i absolutely love what i do and have zero intentions on stopping what i do "Exploring" because it is so much fun. So yes urban exploring will always be apart of my channel no matter what. And you are absolutely right about the market being saturated. I do plan on visiting more locations in my home state this year as there are still things i want to see and share with you all and i am so excited about it. Flo i absolutely appreciate you being apart of my community, i always look forward to your comments and i am flattered that i am one of the few channels that you watch. That means so much to me.

I enjoyed your podcast Jeff, I guess you do have to change or tweak whatever you have to these days to remain relevant, YT is tough and no matter what theres always someone better, so you just have to keep on the grinding man. I mean look, Adam the W. went from adventure to discovering things, one video a day and now recently his channel has taken more of a home video sort of channel, dont get me wrong, Im not putting him down and have the highest respect for him but even he has changed and he goes around all of the us ( and world?) not just mostly one area like you do. I dont believe collabs are the answer for smaller channels, but I do believe if you collab with the likes of Scott or Adam and actually do a video together with them, it would help. Collaboration means both or all of you work to create a better product, a video. Some mistakenly think if you do a vid of just meeting them, its a collab, no, its not. that is what it is, a meeting. Keep on doing what you do man, I think you do a great job, thanks for that!

Just listened to to the whole podcast man! i agree with it. Gas is crazy, thats a reason for me as well
@909Adventures2 күн бұрын
Lol yeah I think that was the biggest reason why I wasn't really able to do very much in 24. I still got a lot done by making trips work out to where I would get a hand full of video done in the process. We'll have to collab again one of these days, it's been far to long man.

I'm with you. It's always good to conceal spots, but with the way technology is and the fact everyone has a car, these places will be discovered either by accident or on purpose.
@909Adventures2 күн бұрын
Right and with AI, anybody can find a spot in a matter of seconds. So it almost doesn't matter anymore. To be honest, it has taken a lot of the fun out of it but I'm learning to make peace with it.

What's up bro, yeah this one has been around for a while now. It's housed in an old Powerhouse that was once abandoned. I would definitely check it out if you are in the area but don't go out of your way for it, it's very small and if you don't take your time walking through you could blow through it in just a few minutes.

Man, this is really cool! Makes me want to take a road trip just to see it in person. I remember Texaco stations really well. I also remember ethyl gas. I remember very well when my dad would go to the gas station and tell the attendant: "Fill it up with Ethyl." Yes, I remember the service attendants too, or gas jockeys as they were sometimes called. I love how they have a little town set up too! They did a great job on this museum. I love that you can take your friendly pups inside too. This is almost like a roadside attraction. Very neat! Thank you!!

Flo hey 👋 this is a cool little museum. If you ever get the chance to check it out, I highly recommend it. It is pretty small, but there is lots to see if you take your time, and the added electric car museum at the end is a little added bonus. And your price of admission includes a lifetime pass to this museum and a few other things in the area. I have only heard stories of gas being called ethyl but had never actually called it eythl myself lol, it's a bit foreign to me neither did we have gas attendants well as long as I have been alive anyways lol. So glad you enjoyed this one, Flo. I appreciate you being a part of my little community.

That ain’t even a peterbilt 251 . And the one from the movie had a 1940s fruehauf tanker . The surviving truck belongs to a collector AFAIK . That truck was a spare one in case the main truck had some issues and was actually never seen in the movie . The main truck everyone who watched the Duel movie, knows what happened to that one .
@909Adventures3 күн бұрын
Oh really, so it was a spare? So at least it is linked to the production even if it was not screen used.
