So is this something we can do if we don’t wanna increase the aperture to much? Whats the advantages to doing this?
@Platypod17 күн бұрын
Lenses don't perform very well at the extreme end of the aperture range and are sharpest somewhere in the middle, usually around f/8. Using Focus Stacking you're able to shoot at the aperture where your lens is at its sharpest AND you can extend the depth of field at will, far beyond what you would be able to do with aperture alone. Depth of Field at short distances is considerably narrow - even at high aperture values. So using Focus Stacking allows you to get sharper images than using aperture on its own. There is another video in the series where I compare both methods. Check out this link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aYnQYaaod82AbZY

The lume cube technical your fill light?
@Platypod17 күн бұрын
Yes, in the Mando/Darth Vader shot I use the lumecube to fill in the shadows on Mando himself. In the Ice Planet duel shot I used the lumecube with an orange gel to create a backlight in order to match the lighting with the background (the sun is behind him in the background image)

I sincerely wish there was something we could do about that, but we have no control over these two factors. Platypod is a very high cost item with a very low profit margin so there is room to compensate for postage and customs.

I bought the Elite version and like it…except for the two knobs on the front that tighten/loosen the ball head. For me, there is NO way I can use just one finger to adjust them. There are so difficult that I have to use two hands to get them to tighten or loosen. When the ball head is just sitting on my tripod without a camera, it’s fine…easy to click with one hand; otherwise, it’s a pain to use. Not for anyone with weaker fingers.

Gary, you may want to google this. Different companies may build the same brand of flashlight with different types of LEDs. Because Nichia is high quality, companies using it will most likely list it in the features of the product.

Are there certain flowers that work best?
@Rain_HayesАй бұрын
I've experimented with over 100 flowers and still can't predict which will fluoresce and which won't. Which is great if you like surprises and constantly trying new things. I'd start with flowers that have a lot of pollen, like a sunflower. Pollen tends to glow super brightly.

there's a bit of a catch with Nikon cameras. with Nikon, the camera displays the _effective_ aperture (i.e., it takes into account loss of light in exposure as it approaches macro distances) so make sure you set the optimum aperture before you set to the intended (macro or close-focus) distance. don't be alarmed if the camera automatically changes aperture as you focus closer to your subject...just adjust the shutter speed and/or lighting to achieve proper exposure.

If i sat at a baseball game seat, how many handles would I need to video a fireworks show after the game? only one or two?
@Platypod2 ай бұрын
Assuming you have a Platypod sitting on the seat between your legs, having two handles would allow you to raise your ball head 21 inches above the level of the seat. You might want to take a tape measure, sit on a chair and measure the distance from the seat surface between your legs and your neck. This double set up will give you a range of 13 inches to 21 inches height. Note, also that 2 handles stacked together are still rocksteady.

Could this act as a fluid head for 4K videos with Mirrorless Cameras?
@Platypod2 ай бұрын
Although our platyball has very nice horizontal fluid panning, it is not a true video head since it does not have fluid tilt. I hope that answers your question.

has the battery drain issue been addressed since introduction?
@Platypod2 ай бұрын
Yes. We recommend running the leveling indicator at medium power. See the manual card for instructions. Using it like this we have been able to use these at tradeshows for two or three days at a time frequently without having to replace batteries at all. The brightest setting is only necessary for direct very bright sunlight, but it does tend to drain the battery. Hardly ever needed.

Late to this Field Test, picked one of these up based on this video as I have purchased several of your books. But have to say, my findings were not positive with this head. There was creep, never really locked down and the battery life of Elite's display is dismal. So has me wondering about the integrity of your comments. Finding it harder and harder to get honest feedback here on KZbin and that's a real shame and disservice to this community AND the retailers that sell these. I'm returning the one I received, so now that retailer has to restock it, handle it again, lost money on shipping and now became less profitable. So I'm disappointed in you Scott and other KZbinrs that gave kiss-ass review of this.
@Platypod2 ай бұрын
Sounds like this customer received a defective unit. Never contacted customer support. We would’ve taken care of this properly. Normally there is no creep on our units. Battery life when used properly is normally good. We recommend running on medium power, which is quite visible in broad daylight. Again, sorry that this customer was just pleased, but should’ve followed proper procedure. We have sold thousands and thousands of units and rarely have a return.
