If you have 2 compost bins, one in use and one stays empty. If you turn it into the empty one every 6 months, it's compost so much quicker.

The law around property that people privately on in the UK is a badly written joke. Just to exit in peace in the UK is a genuine challenge unless you pay through the nose beyond reasonable affordability.

It’s an interesting approach but sadly is not compliant with UK pollution laws….. you could be prosecuted. Is it likely to happen no but it’s still not right to shortcut because you can’t afford a proper solution as the reality is you are putting your own health and ever body else downstream at risk!

Help!! I’m trying to achieve this! Where did you find the land? How did you get around planning permission, are you using solar?

What's the point buying a piece of land if you can't use it freely due to too many restrictions? Doesn't make sense.

You use as much kindling as my wife...save some for the next fire. Too much paper too. I dont have 20 minutes to get a fire going either. That being said, good video.

On a morning restart, I lay one sugar pine cone in the remaining coals and add my 🪵, bingo it’s going. I will definitely try your technique on a cold start though.

13:59 So I’ll need to look after the emotional wellbeing of neighbours. If they invested emotional security in there never being a cabin where I build one, the truth of me building saves them from a false investment, but reveals any perceived entitlement that might drive them to be angry. Now, looking after their emotional wellbeing does not seem to be my responsibility, and could be a sin if I do so.

The hottest part of a flame/flames is at the top so it’s best to light the fire from the bottom if you want to create heat fastest.

It's something that can be prepped ahead of time and made ready to go with lighting it and then doing stuff nearby while it starts up with little attention needed.

Hi, I enjoyed your video, I find the time lapse versions nothing different to a pop video but you go into detail the good and bad of your achievements and I found it interesting and enjoyed your progression throughout, so I am a self builder and built all my own campervans and the shower you made, I decided not to put a shower in mine just a toilet and wet room and I had a 2ltr bottle with holes drilled and used it for nearly 10 years happily and yes it makes you realise how much water we waste daily, but great build and hope you have many happy years enjoying it Regards James

Completely backwards from the way I was taught. Looks like it uses more kindling. But it also looks like a much more efficient way of getting heat faster, without standing or sitting there tending to it, to make sure it caught the big pieces. And I save brush and sticks for kindling anyway, so I always have plenty. Very cool 👍

Been burning for years, I thought you were going to teach me something new! And by the way, I don’t use wadded up paper to start the fire, I use a hand full of wood shavings from processing firewood, or from my wood shop, from either the lathe or the “smoothing table” ( plane shavings) that have seasoned ( garlic onions, black pepper and come cayenne) and dried in the shed, one match and up it goes! Yes, I do set up for a top down, but also layer my shavings through out the kindling stack! Adds heat quicker and burns for 1/2 hour before needing to tend to the fire!

It's our birth right from God to be entitled to land to live off so who are we buying the land from? Once you own the land you need planning permission, what does it have to do with the government or local authorities what you build on your own land? Who are they to dictate what you can and can't do on your OWN land! And people think we live in a free country 🤦‍♂️
