real ones know this is a reupload mkay so on this one i feel like giving us the actual joke and maybe the episode plot rundown before the analysis would be beneficial. i hath not yet viewed Grinning Pals so i was left a little confused when you began talking about cool aspects of a scene that was never explained, especially the eating paperclips one. also, your transitions to the next joke could be improved, both in script and also in the video itself - you are making a video essay, after all. paragraph breaks should be denoted either visually or tonally. on paper, this is done with a literal line break; but in the video, you don't really separate one joke from the next, especially the one right after eating paperclips. as of right now the video is literally just Smiling Friends clips with no audio and your occasionally changing face on it. also my dude the text at 3:56 appears out of time and disappears too late you can't just let that happen i was also surprised to not hear you mention the dialogue - which i consider to be the funniest part of SF. they talk over each other and like normal people, which completely breaks all dialogue writing rules. now i just watched some clip compilations, so you're far more educated, but still. also i felt the analysis itself was a little shallow. this might have just been a byproduct of the fact that we never got to see the actual jokes, but your reasoning just felt like "this subverts expectations, and thus is better" and while yeah, it does, i would have liked to see a more in-depth comparison between two similar jokes from different shows, what SF does differently, and what new things this different approach allows. like, for example, your first one, the copout - your only reasoning for it being good is that you get to see the friends happy, which doesn't really address the fact that it's still a copout. and for your second one, i think for comedy to be done "differently" there needs to be something for it to be different from. you never compared the paperclip finger joke to another show, you just said that it could have been worse and it wasn't. for the third joke, i kind of felt like you were writing your reasoning live - as in, you really didn't know what was different about the scene, so you came up with something on the spot. it feels like that, especially with the only "difference" being that the character is successful. the joke is still the same - "easy solution to problem which works absurdly well" - and i think that's a somewhat common joke. you supply "most other comedy shows" but don't really provide any examples. your fourth one is pretty good - i think you should try to replicate its format. you provide an example, have a solid analysis and reason why any other approach would have been worse, and the joke was simple enough that i understood even though you never fully explained it. same with the fifth, except you could have explained the joke itself a little better, since the execution part comes totally out of the blue. all in all, it feels kind of like a first draft. i'd give it a B-. yeah i probably sound like your english teacher, sue me. i mean no hate and no harm - this is just constructive criticism. i think SF's comedy is special too - but if i didn't, i don't think this video would have convinced me.

AI is prone to include AI in generated stories. Just in the outlines of the website you have shown us it says the show is about family that lost job to AI and they also have AI robot at home. This urge to add AI to everything recently has resulted in generative content to everything it makes. Like just ask how got thinks the future will look like and it will out heavy emphasis on AI. That does make some sense, but not when every generated story is about that.

I can honestly buy the idea that the show was written purely by AI. So much of it seems so disingenuous, like it was literally just made to appeal to a right wing and conservative demographic, as well as naturally, Elon Musk. It doesn’t seem like something that was written or created by a human out of any genuine belief. I’m not trying to defend what the show epouses mind you, it’s a bigoted and anti intellectual worldview, but it seems like someone just asked ChatGPT “hey go write a script for a show designed to appealed to conservatives as much as possible” and than just ripped it there without any edits or drafts.

how do i spell your name also i think the little character moving around like at 6:40 can be a little distracting, but that's a pretty minor problem. also like someone else said, playing the video/audio clip would be useful, like with the theme song. additionally the audio mastering was a little quiet, your voice was at times hard to hear over the music. other than that, pretty cool. also those pie charts are so obviously hand drawn and i love it

I dont think the animation was AI, they have a history and a website, and it seems like real animators and people did draw, rig, and edit these characters. Voices also dont sound at all robotic. However, the theme song is DEFINITELY AI. Thank god for Elon musk
