Thanks for this, it confirms I am not crazy - I feel almost always that my outcome is dictated by my set up and explains why sometimes I just feel like I'm going to hook it because I don't feel quite right in the setup. And this usually comes down to shaft lean, ball position, and alignment.

I just came across this great video. I have struggled with this for 45 years. People say it is a "better players" issue, but I think it is more of a problem for people who started playing when they were very young, possibly with clubs that were too heavy. The gravitational forces at transition are just too much for a young kid to offset and the club drops down and behind them. I have never seen a player who took up the game later have a stuck problem. The ball forward drill forces you to make the old Corey Pavin practice swing - which transformed Tom Watson's ball striking.

I tried this and my irons feels amazing! Does this thought/feeling work with fairway woods and driver as well?

In the Stable Release…when does the club head whip through for higher speed? If you “never stop moving” the handle, when does that pendulum action take over for speed like it would in the Roll Release?

I understand you are releasing both the elbow and the wrist of the trial arm, is that correct?

Not only does it help get open at impact, but the path the eyes travel during the swing has a huge impact on the path of the club as well! Worst golf tip of all time has to be, “Keep your head down and watch the club hit the ball.” 😢 For me, and almost every player I’ve ever worked with, understanding how your body responds to the eye path and head rotation is a game changer.

What about a bunker like mid fairway and you still got a long way to go. Any tricks to this? Or do I just hit normal? I’m new this year so idk lol

I had a major issue with swinging flat or having the club way behind me no matter what I tried doing to fix this. I saw this video and practiced for literally 10 minutes and instantly had some of the best drives in my life and straight shots moat of the day. I still have to work on not topping the ball because this is a new swing thought but I am excited to keep doing this drill and see what happens. Thank you so much

Bryson DeChambeau does a full single plane shot and hits it a ton. So the single plane shot is more then just in the back swing.

Last comment posted 4 months ago (and I agree with that comment.) About the time this video was uploaded eight years ago, I was 61, my drives dwindled to 220 carry and my 3-4 foot putt percentage must have dropped to 60%. Like Bobby and Jack, I like to die my ball into the hole or like Toski said, “like a mouse scurrying into a hole.) My misses were short, many hanging on the lip. Aim back of the the cup and still shorted many. Pelz says 18” past is the perfect speed and it works fine for me from 6 feet out but I just couldn’t putt with authority on the short ones; even after telling myself to hit 12” past. Today, my drives are up at least to 240 carry at 69 years (completely overhauled swing at 63) and thanks to videos like yours, my putts began to drop like they did in my 20’s. My 3-4 footers began to drop at tour level (98%; 2-3’ - 99.2%) thanks to advice from another video. You suggested 6” past the cup but as stated earlier, even 12” past didn’t work for me. That vid said an average person hits a one foot gimme about 3 feet past the cup. No way! But I tried it and lo and behold, I do knock it just about 3 feet past. So every 3 footer is a 12 inch gimme and 18” for a 4 footer. We can all roll a ball over a dime from 12-18 inches especially if we ignore distance. Just find that spot carefully, very carefully and give yourself a gimme. Also another channel suggested aiming within the cup for three footers on all but extreme circumstances. So those two tips applied to my situation admirably. I’m sure your advice helps many too. PenguinGolf.
