Me encantan los Seymour Duncan en todo. En sonido limpio es super dulce el Neck y el bridge es super oscuro con mucho ataque. En si Seymour Duncan le gana en todo, en definición y sustein.

I have the same guitar but in a different color with the Gibson 500T pickup, do you think it is a good idea to put some covers on that guitar or will it take away a lot of gain?

Great video but I just think that when you played clean through the SD’s, it appears that you strummed All strings. When you played through the Gibson’s, you left out the low E.

Slowly with the compressor, too much here... EMG81 sounds better to me, particularly in low frequencies.

All day man. The 498t/490r set is the only set I use now in lp style guitars after fiddling with a ton of different pups over the years. They just sound so good. Definitely underrated by people who just follow guitar influencer hype instead of their own 2 ears. Like the old saying says, "if it ain't broke don't fix it" and man that's the truth 😂😂😂

@@Naughtforeye 490R+498T is a great setup, but for modern metal I would take something else, and not SH4 (I'm just planning to change from my orville 490/498 and change to something like SD black winter or dimarzio D activator. The only problem with the 498T, in my opinion, is slightly less readability. It's a pity I don't know where to put the 490/498 yet, because my traditional has a gibson 59' set and I don't want to change them either.

I would say split the difference: Duncan 59 in the neck and keep the 498T in the bridge.
I might've liked the stock Gibson better. Dare I say it ? I always assumed I liked the JB more.

Thank you for the video. It does help. It was just a little hard to determine the attack because the compression was kinda squashing, especially on the distorted sections. It's tough to find that point where volume and clarity meet. But still a helpful video for direct comparison. Nice that you were straight to the point and efficient with our time! Well done.

I just put a 498t/490r set in my Epi Jerry Cantrell lp custom and once again they absolutely kill. I've messed around with a number of different pups over the years in different LP's I've owned. And I've owned Gibby's too and bought different pups only to put the og 498t/490r set back in 😂😂😂. So now that's my end all be all for LP style guitars no matter what. They are criminally underrated by most, and when I play with different people and dial different tones with them people always ask what they are, and are taken back when I tell them. Like the old saying goes, "if it ain't broke don't fix it" lol and that's the truth.

I have a SD 59 in the neck position and find it quite pronounced in the low to mid range. That's good for warm clean sounds but the 490T has more of that typical Gibson tone and sounds just great both clean and in overdrive mode.
498T more versatile on your guitar. The JB Probably better suited for strat-shaped guitars.

The way I heard it, Gibson pickups doesn't come with a specific focus, that said a 498T will be more versatile than a JB but the JB will have more efficiency on some circumstances. Their difference can be minimized with a preamp tubes setting but the pickups tweak will be apparent anyway. As for the 59' vs- 490R, it's all about taste, as both of them are build under 70-80 years old specification none of them will sound "modern" or "contemporary" the 59' is a very articulate pickups for an AlNiCo 5 (not as much as a Seymour Sentient) and the 490R is an AlNiCo 2 tweaked for versatility, the lows will be buttery & tight and the highs will be packed with a ton of inharmonic (typical from the AlNiCo 2 magnet). All of these pickups have a purpose, thanks for posting.
Looks and sounds killer! Where’d you get the pick guard made?
