It's funny... That SAM itself does provide the most unusual und useless instructions on how to use their own product. How can you get tension on the repositioned fx of you do it like so? And how do you make sure to immobilize the elbow as well?

If you can't figure out where to place a needle without a stick-on guide, you shouldn't be performing a needle thoracentesis.

Isn't the point of splinting to also immobilize the neighboring joint like the knee in this case? Or am I missing something?
@Girlandthesea6112 ай бұрын
You want to stabilize the joint above and below the site of the injury.
@carsondudley7128Ай бұрын
This seems to be more geared towards a soft tissue strain or sprain type injury in an austere environment. In the prehospital setting for us, yeah you would probably want to opt for the above and below approach. I would likely get some stink eye if I brought an ankle fracture in like this lol.

Problem is, if you are bleeding from the ilic artery, by the time the paramedics get to you, you are toast. The junction tourniquette would be more useful for the immediate responder.

The items used for training are usually blue in color. Best to practice with them and leave the black or orange ones for single time use in a real trauma situation. SAM does sell a blue TQ.

I’d avoid any rolling. just place the sling under the legs first an then slide it up under the patient. ofc this depends on terrain, size of the patient, extra help around, etc.

I'm presuming so that they can check that the blood flow is slowed and the pressure has to be relieved if possible a short while to keep the lower tissue healthy enough.

@@ukaszadamczyk5694 You cant see blood and most other body fluids on them. Especially in trauma medicine you do a bodycheck or blood sweep on basicly every patient, whicht is pretty hard to do when you cant see the blood on your hands.
