I love Amy thank you for making this 💚 she was and is my favorite character. I learned a lot of the same lesson from her growing up. She’s a strong character that’s under utilized. She’s inspired by Sonic and from her admiration for him she loves him. This is exactly how I fell for my now fiancé. I admire him and he inspires me to not only want to be better, but to actually make the effort to become better. I feel it’s the exact same for Amy with Sonic and I personally think Sonic admires Amy’s willingness to change for the better, but is too shy to come out and say it. All I have to say is Amy Rose is a girl boss who isn’t afraid to admit how she feels about the person she loves while still having her own aspirations. And as a 12 year old little girl who was too shy to tell her crush she liked them Amy Rose gave me the strength to confess. For that she will always be my number one and I will always be a die hard fan of hers ❤

I’m glad that she’s mature overtime and became her own person. It’s not that she has a crush on sonic that I have a problem with, it’s the fact that she was way to obsessed with him that made me hate her. 👍

Nuclear ass take here, Weakness is FUNDAMENTAL to Femininity and the goals that term was meant to do, and the fact that people, including this comment section here are insistent to keep repeating otherwise should tell you everything you need to know. Its like going up the endless stairs in Mario 64, you'll never succeed. Its horrible faith from the very beginning. It's not because I think women are weak, it's because the term "femininity" is designed to institutionalize the subjugation of women, socially or otherwise. That's what I believe is the real reason why women would reject femininity for masculinity, it's not necessarily because pink pretty dresses are cringe or stuff. It's because historically, the narrative of masculinity and the position men are given in society is just gratifying and sounds nice; being strong, financially independent, capable, having integrity, all about having power or ability to do things for yourself. So of course Femininity, being the counterpart, has to be different, all about being subjugated by power, to be docile, passive and pretty (but not TOO pretty i guess, whatever keeps you under control). It's always been hierarchical based, without misogyny, without oppression of women, there IS no Femininity, let alone Masculinity. I personally rather not take those terms seriously. Period. You'd just play along with their game that was built against you.

It’s interesting how I can agree so strongly and disagree so strongly with different points in the same video. Let’s just start with where I disagree. I don’t think Sonic’s tone during his fight with Team Rose meant he thought he wasn’t in danger. It’s a staple of the Sonic franchise that Sonic will be Sonic even when he’s in danger and knows he is. Now within that you could interpret her as thinking Sonic doesn’t mean no and that trying to fight back was part of the charade, or you could interpret her as entertaining the possibility that Sonic meant it and was forcing herself on him anyway, but either way I think that counts as stalkerish. That said, I have no qualms with Amy being stalkerish; this franchise had no hope of being “wholesome,” so to speak, and it’s not like Sonic’s any kind of role model himself given his own vices. I also feel compelled to point out that it’s not just when she thinks Sonic’s dead that her optimism weakens, but also when they’re apart. The *Natsu No Hi* scene comes to mind. Methinks Amy’s otherwise enduring optimism comes at least partly from confidence that he is helpless to be hers and only hers, one way or another. (See also “Sonic you’re so bashful” during the tournament arc.) That said, you have a good point on not judging a character by the worst written versions of them. I would add that this is part of the problem with for profit media; it’s not about the art, it’s about whatever will sell this week. :/

I really hope Amy is in the new sonic movie coming out this year. She really deserves a more character development in a good way and then it’ll put the fans bad doubts to rest. Hopefully

It's good that Sega made Amy mellow out in recent games. It makes her a great role model for little kids. In a kiddy franchise like Sonic The Hedgehog, you need to set a good example for the audience, and having Amy pester Sonic to marry her and chase him around isn't a good example for kids.

Amy is a 12-year-old *child,* so of course she’s going to have a schoolgirl crush on someone cool and older like Sonic. In Sonic Adventure, she clung to him, but eventually grew to be very brave, strong, and independent. For that reason, and her kindness and her amazing ability to inspire people to do what’s right, I think she’s a great character.

I genuinely see Amy as the heart of the group. Not just having a big heart but also having emotion intelligence and not afraid of calling out others on being selfish. Honestly her and Silver get along well because of how similar they are. I love Amy's personality in forces and the IDW. I don't see it as fixing i see it as growth. I also think Sonic has been a jerk but learns from it. He CAN be cocky but part of his charm is he ends up learning when he's wrong and apologizing... even after arguing sometimes... (Lost World) I don't think Boom Amy is obsessed, sounds like a crush that she's worried about the friendship being ruined, I've had friendship crushes like that ,so i get it. Also reminder Amy has an ability to go invisible? Like it never gets brought up either, very odd. She's always been one of my favorite sonic characters, right next to Shadow. I also really like Amy's aggressiveness. Its very straightforward. I love how in frontiers Eggman talks about how he respects her growth. Overall I love how Amy was, is and hopefully continues to become!

I am a child of the 90s and I grew up with this franchise. I always though Amy was a great character and Sonic is lucky to have a girl like her want his company. She’s immature because she’s young, but she’s confident and follows her own sense of morality. I had kids about 10 years ago and the moment my daughter seemed interested in games, I introduced her to Amy Rose and Sonic Adventure. As hard as it would be to be the parent of a girl like Amy, I’d be blessed to see my daughter turn out anything like her. She’s a GREAT role model for girls.

Amazing deduction! It kind of peeved me when some KZbinr's said she was "just a girl" and was weak and had no powerful abilities. It's nice to find a video explaining Amy as an individual without having to incorporate outdated gender stereotypes or benevolent sexism.

I love Amy rose; she is my favorite character. I have always thought of her as a special character, and she deserves to be there. they really like removing her for some reason. then since people say that they should remove her then they should remove her. the only reason way she is there is to be a love character for sonic. since they were adding her to the group, they should have given her something to do, not giving her that hammer. although it is her personality at least they should have given something more reasonable. I know it is hard thinking of what to give her, but it should be more reasonable. And she should not be chasing sonic around at least she should hide her feelings and let sonic warm up to her not in a weird way. Amy should be given a special role.

Chasing Sonic wasn't Amy's only personality trait. She's also strong, loving, kind, caring... or rather was, until Flynn started writing her with his social media plugged brain. Of course, twitter dweller fans want her to be a feminist wet dream, to the point Flynn made her the weakest she's ever been, in Sonic Frontier. In that game, she screams how she's not a damsel in distress anymore. But was she ever? She was in Sonic CD, but ever since her second appearance, in Sonic Adventure, she's been fighting (or even recruiting) Eggman's most dangerous machines, right next to the rest of the gang. The people who scream how she's an annoying damsel, clearly don't know Amy. The same one who turned Gamma to the good side and stood up to Sonic, to protect Gamma. Now those social media idiots are portraying her as ashamed of her love for Sonic and Sonic Frontiers has her telling Sonic that she'll go on her own adventure, but she sounds almost like she's asking for permission.

I have never played any of the Sonic games, and I've only been a BIG fan for a short amount of time. I used to say Sonic was my favorite character, but after watching Sonic Boom, Sonic X, Sonic Prime, some cutscenes from the games and playing Sonic Forces: Speed Battle, I can safely say that Amy Rose is my favorite character. She's cute, sweet and kind while still being battle-ready and a force to be reckoned with. Of course, I love her relationship with Sonic, and even her relationships with other characters really shine if people could just clean their glasses every once in a while. Her care for others really influences all of her actions, and even though she may get carried away every once in a while, who doesn't? I wish Sega gave her more time and chances to show others what she's really made of, her underlying strength and the true power of the love she has for the people she cares for. I don't know if she would be well received as THE main character, but I definitely would not mind seeing her working one-on-one with Sonic in one of his adventures. Thank you for making this video! Amy Rose does not get enough credit for her role in Sonic's adventures, even though she seems pivotal to some of his successes.

It's just young people not understanding femininity. A good example of this would be when i saw walk the line. I remember believing Johnny Cash's first wife was insane. Then i was in a relationship for a good number of years. Then i watched it again, and i understood her a whole lot more. I told my wife (girlfriend at the time) that the first time i saw the movie i thought she was crazy, but after being with her for so long i understood her a whole lot more. It's just a primarily male audience that have yet to experience women.
