I’m keen to know if the Colour is really that dark in reality? I am torn between Grenadilla and Pernambuco. I love dark brown wood but it seems like the Grenadilla ages to an almost ebony? Should I rather get the pernambuco and have that age to tone resembling Grenadilla? What is your advice?
@andreas9119Ай бұрын
I have the macassar and it's dark. Like black dark also.
@watchspiritАй бұрын
Yes, it's a really dark brown. As far as I can tell, it hasn't darkened any further, but has retained its color since I bought it. However, I did see a Grenadilla in the store that was slightly lighter in tone than mine. So maybe you need to look for a Grenadilla that is a lighter shade. Since the wood body is a natural product, it will never be the same as any other Classic Series pen. I also have an Anello Ebony fountain pen which is black and has not darkened any further in recent years. The Pernambuco, on the other hand, is a very light brown and based on my experiences with Ebony and Grenadilla, I do not think that it will darken in color and become a Grenadilla shade of brown. But if you prefer a light brown, then definitely go for the Pernambuco. Why not go to a store and see which shade of brown suits you or order both online and have them sent to you to view and then choose? There are always good offers on the Internet. And by the way, have you had a look at the Classic Macassar? This one looks cool with its black nib.
@tariq-allyАй бұрын
@@watchspirit thank you so much for your thoughts on this! I truly truly appreciate it. I’ve ruled out pernambuco and now deciding between the macassar and Grenadilla. And yes my plan exactly is to ask if the store can please pick out a lighter shade of brown in either of them. I’m getting it online and the store is really friendly so they should be able to help in this regard.

Sorry to hear that you do not like the experience with your rollerball. I have smaller hands and as the fountain pen is quite hefty, it feels good to me in hand and to write with. I think the feeling is different for everyone, so it's important to try it out live. I never tried the Magnum one but had the Intuition Platino and made a review about it. This pen is also bigger than the standard intuition. Thanks for commenting!

Yes, It is the 40mm one. The PRX wears slightly bigger on my wrist due to the design of the integrated bracelet and fixed endlinks but is lighter than the ORIS. Anyhow, both wear perfectly fine for my wrist size 6.5 inch but it is on the edge. Have you watched my PRX review on the channel "6 Months with My Tissot PRX 40mm Review"? Yeah, Graf von Faber-Castell has its own shape, material mix and style which is quite unique, classical, elegant and timeless paired with high quality-materials. It sounds like a commercial I know 😅but honestly, I have a few GvFC pens - which I will show one by one on my channel - and all were perfect out of the box, first and foremost the nibs. I have regular to small wrists. I chose the mint in 35mm, my girlfriend can also use it with a quick link adjustment or strap swap. Although, I tell people I chose the 35mm because the bracelet is so nice I wanted to show more of it. The twelve by Christopher Ward in 36mm is a much better watch for a 6.5” wrist.

@petercollins77308 ай бұрын
In the US, the price difference is vastly greater. The Jinhao costs about $2 from Amazon, in a 6 pack for $12. The Sailor is around $130 minimum, on sale. Entry-level Sailor pens, with steel nibs, start around $30. Personally, I prefer the Jinhao to the Sailor. I prefer the way it writes, primarily its slightly wetter feel. Both are perfectly acceptable though. The Sailor is a much better-made pen overall. The Jimhao is cheap plastic, and occasionally one will simply not work without fiddling. They also tend to just wear out, either beginning to leak slightly -oozing actually - or breaking, if you pocket carry. The Sailor is very precisely manufactured, and, except for the potential wear of any gold nib, should be a lifetime pen. Given the choice, on a desert-island, you have only one pen scenario, I would choose the Jinhao. But that's just personal preference. Both write well and smoothly. If I took the Jinhao, I'd want a six-pack; I think 6 of the Jinhaos would last as long a one of the Sailors.
@watchspirit8 ай бұрын
$2 in the US, only? Oh my, that is really really a good offer. Price-wise, there is no chance for Sailor compared to the Jinhao. Overall, the Sailor pen feels better, I agree. Thanks for your comprehensive insight and experience!
