If God was to direct everything down here on Earth, then it would be slavery -- the complete antithesis of what God stands for, which is love. 2) I find it interesting that "I don't believe in you (God)." Go ahead. That's your right. God believes in you, whether or not you wish to believe in him. Postscript: I wonder if those who espouse this song believe in anything. Which is, of course, exactly what evil wants.

I haven't heard this song in forever, my dad showed me it around the time I was starting to question my religious views. He played it while we were on a road trip and this kind of helped kickstart things into high gear. So on another road trip, I pulled this song up and he was surprised because last he knew I was still considering myself Christian. This was years before I knew I was part of the LGBTQIA+ community, and you all know how we're mistreated.

I have been an atheist all my life. As far back as I can remember. No one have ever tried to indoctrinate me. My parents believe in a god...I think. I was lucky to have parents that didn't try to brainwash me. I came to this conclusion myself. If I ever had a god, the scientific method and logic would be it.

Wow, I love XTC but.... Like so many idealistic humans brimming with hubris and ignorance, Andy shoots the arrow at the wrong target. "Money is the root of all evil", no it's not, humans are. "An SUV killed a pedestrian late last night", no it didn't, a human did. God(s) didn't let the holocaust, Mao's famine and the rape of Nanking happen, humans did. Quit blaming God(s), Buddha, Allah etc. To be human is to endure war, peace, love, horror, outrage, sin. Humans were never guaranteed a lifetime of absolute peace. As humans we have given the instruction manuals to live the most righteous life we possible can e.g. The Bible, The Torah, The Quran etc and HISTORY FFS, oh yes my dear humans, HISTORY. So, put down your bongs, game controllers and your crown of sanctimony, pull an arrow from thy quiver and point it straight up and start reading.
