Without doubt, the best video of this type I've seen! Thank you for not wasting any time with extraneous explanations or sales pitches. The soundtrack was sheer perfection and very much appreciated.

Do Rolex watches have batteries ?
@johnmood5653 Жыл бұрын
No! Automatic refers to the use of a pendulum balanced inside the case to send electricity to the watch, storing current generated by the motion of your arm. No batteries at all.

*Not a Rolex 1575 obviously (an automatic caliber) used in the 60s for DateJust models, but is this an ETA or other movement obtained from outside the Wilsdorf companies, OR did Tudor or Rolex make this movement?*
@Subiemal Жыл бұрын
ETA didn’t exist back in the 1960s. That was post quartz crisis. It was known as FHF then Eterna in that era. This particular watch is late 1968+ as the Tudor rose design changed over to more the shield style.

*I wore this same model for 26 years. It was the most accurate automatic wristwatch I ever had. Took an impact that loosened something part of the automatic works so that the rotor buzzed when my arm moved anything more than slowly, but kept very accurate time just the same. Rolex USA returned her to new condition. I remember it fondly. It stayed in the family and keeps ticking until today, 37 years later.*

Can a Tudor be as pricy as a Rolex
@Chris_the_Muso2 жыл бұрын
Not usually. They were meant to be (more) affordable. They are fine watches mostly using ETA movements that were finished by Tudor. They produced a range of watches, some of which were still quite expensive.

But these vintage watches are growing interest absolutely stunning
@Subiemal Жыл бұрын
Tudor used Rolex (wilsdorf) manufactured Oyster cases. Hence the “oyster” in the name. The dials were also made in the wilsdorf factory. They just used off the shelf FHF then Eterna movements which later became ETA. Many Tudor models are worth far more then rolex’s due to rarity. An example is the Tudor Snowflake Submariner. Or any Tudor Submariner for that matter will be worth comparatively more then a rolex submariner due to less being made as the price wasn’t much different to rolex by that point.
