I remember them buses, i used to get travel sick if i went on long drives in cars, but 20 minutes on them buses i turned pale and started to vomit and would either get off or if i had someone with me i would lay down..im from acocks green and i loved it there until our Christian school was turned to a muslim school and then it was over run by migrants..no hate, but when your home town changes and you feel like your not welcome its sad.now my moms old house is a run down dirty house with overgrown gardens and rubbish all up the street.

Class 142068 is perhaps gone to the scrapyard where class 153305 is now with ScotRail which is good coupled to class 156 in Scotland. Only 2 train operators honestly have the 1 single class 153s are SR -ScotRail and TFW - Transport For Wales. Could class 153s continue to survive until around perhaps the deadline date Monday 31st December 2035 in 13 years time from Saturday 24th September 2022. Train operators SR and TFW will see how class 153s are going depending what condition they’re in. If I honestly see class 142 pacers on the rails again I honestly agree to leave them alone treat them invisible falsely pretend they are not there ignore them and automatically walk away. 142 pacers are honestly crappy trains as well they are very uncomfortable. Also 142 pacers honestly won’t be used for public transport anymore which is good so hooray.

The Lynx was a marvellous bus when it first came out en masse in 1990. Living in Daisy Bank, near Coseley at the time, we were served by WMT’s 225 and 226 services and MRW’s 270 service. All travelling between Bilston and Dudley. Both WMT and MRW’s routes were Lynx operated G-reg models. I was so fascinated by the two variants. How the same bus could be so different in spec. The MRW buses always felt rather bare compared to the WMT ones. So, the WMT Lynx’s were my favourite, but I preferred the MRW Lynx’s side seat behind the driver’s cab, because as a curious 10/11 year old, I could watch the driver and see all of the controls. The WMT ones had a luggage rack in this space on theirs, so I could only observe the driver by sitting on the side seat next to the doors. Happy memories, great times.👍🏼☺️

Only ever driven one lynx, had it for one duty, was a lot nicer to drive than it looked, quick and it had really nice brakes. I liked Leyland buses, Titans, Atlanteans and Olympians, driven them all.

Nothing beats the acceleration of these, they were the most powerful buses especially when the driver used to floor them!

I used to work in Hopwood 2000-4 so my daily commute was on a 146 Lynx (and latterly a Verde) was a great service. 7 days a week, early morning to late at night and up to every 20minutes at one point. I think it’s mon-sat daytimes every two hours now. Very sad.

I've never understood the reason for the odd windscreen arrangement. Why is the drivers windscreen pushed in like that?

These would do 55 flat out. On paper. The badgerline batch had high speed diffs and a 5 speed ecomat and would go off the clock.

I loved driving these on the 607 years ago between Uxbridge to Shepherd’s Bush. Cracking acceleration! Run to timetable as far as the old Hanwell Garage then as traffic allows!👍

It reduces interior reflections when it's dark, so your can actually see where you're going at night.

Nice bus from a passenger point of view but I hated the driving position because of the pillars from the sloped screen on the drivers side. Still a good video and a like from me anyway.

The howl here isn't the engine or gearbox, its the hub reduction drive axle. The Metrobus and Lynx and later Tigers use the same type of axle and suffer from the same gear howl, particularly in over run. Use of a hub reduction type axle reduces the size of the crown wheel gear in the diff and therefore the casing size, which presumably keeps gangway height over the back axle to a minimum without use of a drop centre axle.

@LandAnchor7 жыл бұрын
Marcus Orangeboom IV None this is a MK2 these were fully automatic and had a very distinct gearbox whine. They used to serve as our school buses and before that they used Leyland Nationals, including an original MK 1 National.
