I remember hearing this on 1050 WHN Country and Western station in NYC back in the 1970's. My Pop was NYPD and hated the city, and he always listened to Country music and went to the PA mountains whenever he got his vacation time!! NYC wasn't the best place in those days, but the memories at home, were. People weren't perfect then, but had a much different approach to life. I believe technology and the absence of God in our society has brought us very low and empty inside. We'll never see great performers like Glen Campbell ever again; nobody can "write" songs with such depth of heart anymore.

That song reminds me of everything that was good in the world, Westerns with John Wayne telling a story with a good moral. Look What at we have now!

there are two instrumental piano versions of this song that i know too, one is by Carl Doy and the other one by Billy Andrusco, but i didn't know Floyd Cramer did a cover version of this song as well, which i love it too, Floyd Cramer had that unique style to play the piano [ rest in peace ] - and yes, thank you Floyd.
