Yes and no. I kept the Jeep valve body when I did my swap into the Jeep but that was also partly for a peace of mind thing in case something was just a little bit different. If I’m remembering right though there was something about the electrical plugs that was different for certain years or vehicles. Personally I say it’s better to reuse the valve body from what vehicle it’s going into.

So if i want to replace the transmission in my 06 jeep commander 5.7 2wd? What do i have a choice to pick from? Just bought this truck and the moment i got home the trans just shot itself slipping wont go into 3rd or beyond slips in 2nd. P0700 and p0704. Trans fluid is good. Just going to go buy a trans froma yard just trying to figure out what i can use since its in different engine configurations etc.

Jeep v6 and 8 engines use the starter on passenger side along with the 4.0 which has a different bell housing pattern. Dodge v6 and v8 use the starter on the driver side. So i guess the location has both bolt holes [ driver and passenger] and is manufacturer dependent on which side is used.

Hey man, did you ever have a problem with a yellow wrench light coming on the dash, and the car going in limp mode? After a lot of reading on forums some people are saying that it might be a bad throttle body. Car idles high, after a minute or 2 it drops down to 700 or 8. On a bad day is when it doesnt drop and light comes on, limp mode. Atm it is idling low almost stalling at times. When it finds its idle point i put it in drive and it almost stalls. Any ideas? Thx
@worldsokayestmechanic6631
@worldsokayestmechanic6631 2 жыл бұрын
I don’t remember if it’s changeable but the throttle position sensor may be the culprit. I’ve found it’s rarely ever the actual throttle body. You may also try taking some carb cleaner or brake cleaner and a rag to try to wipe out the inside. If the blade doesn’t or can’t sit right it will cause idle and run issues. Of course I do also recommend using autozone or oriellys to read the codes and see if the codes are even throttle related before you start trying anything.

@@worldsokayestmechanic6631 thanks. I cleaned throttle about 6 months ago. I took it off n cleaned. Its electric. Maybe i messed it up by opening the plate? The codes are p0701. P2135. P2106. I also cleaned the maf, with the right spray cans too. Car skips 2nd gear mechanic said. Cant afford to change tran. Hoping i can just switch out throttle body with an aftermarket 1 n it will fix it

@@worldsokayestmechanic6631 got a used 2007 Ford 500 from a Kia dealer a few years ago and came with cheap oil changes but they’ve been putting in 5w30 when it calls for 5w20. Will that cause problems? It leaks a lot now.
@worldsokayestmechanic6631
@worldsokayestmechanic6631 2 жыл бұрын
@@mem1701movies If the oil leak is bad bad then I would definitely try to make that a priority because low or no oil will cause more and bigger problems than a slightly thicker oil. Someone switched to 5w30 more than likely to slow down the oil leak. I’m running 15w40 in my old small block Chevy just because I’m to lazy to replace ALL the gaskets and it was likely the same thought process of “I don’t want to do this will work” and then it got traded in

@worldsokayestmechanic6631

It just depends on the application. They both can be 4 or 5 speed depending on the programming in the ECU. If you ever replace the transmission though, you will want to reuse your valve body if possible since it is a little different from “heavy duty” like yours to a Jeep that has the same 545RFE.

How did you know the starter was bad? Mine I turn the key and will just get clicks then eventually it will just start right up strong. I can't tell if there is a specific spot to hold the key that works better. Its almost like its warming up or building up juice before it starts. My battery is only a few months old. Do I need no starter or problem with the ignition switch/key assembly I wonder? Thanks for the personable video and required tool list really useful.
@worldsokayestmechanic6631

Honestly I was just told to replace the starter. If you are questioning it though, I would take it off and have it tested and see what they say. Most parts stores will do it for free but it takes them a while. If you have a hammer and something you can use to tap the starter then you can try that when it clicks. Sometimes before they go out they start sticking on the inside of the starter and a few good taps will knock it loose, then if that works I would replace. I’m sorry for the late reply I just saw your comment and thank you for the compliment!
