I've been revisiting the inks I have in my art supply stash, and was finding that my old (approx. 2+ years old) Higgins inks have become very watery and slide right off of the pen nib and even drip badly. Although I'll have to try using it as a watercolor medium rather than an ink, and see how that changes things. I've found that the brand new bottle I have, (just bought yesterday) has a much slower flow and is lovely to write and draw with using my dip pens. The brand new stuff I have came in a glass bottle, is marked as waterproof, and doesn't bleed as badly as the 2 year old stuff. I'm definitely going to try using my old inks with brushes though. Should be fun. Thanks for making this video!

Neat video! I had no idea Copic sold blank markers. I have many fountain pen inks I always try and get working with felt nibs but the common 1mm fineliner nibs ive found are always hit or miss. Would be pretty neat to fill up a clean copic. never wanted to bother cleaning and emptying an old one from someone, but I would buy a blank. Could be neat to try some of my lighter inks with this airbrush kit. I already have an airbrush system and I wonder if their nibs ability to do this extends beyond alcohol based inks to some fountain pen inks that are more aqueous and pigmented.
@battlebrawlerproduction2 ай бұрын
I'm not sure about how the copic airbrush system would work with non alcohol inks, but I now want to test this idea! I imagine it may come out more splattered since most inks are not as thin as alcohol inks, but I could be wrong. If you ever test that idea before me, let me know!

Hello. Excuse me, but do you have an opinion, if this ink can cover [different types of] watercolours? People advertise like 10 different brands of white ink, and none of them is available in my country. This brand is the only one still available, and there are several bottles in different stores in my city. This is the whole supply, but I wouldn't want to buy it to find out that this brand is not sutable for my needs.

Hello! Sorry for the late response, but in my testing, I found that it did not work well on Watercolor. It is often mixed with the watercolor or would take multiple layers to get the desired effect. I may have gotten a bad white ink, but from my experience, it didn't work that well. I personally use Winsor and Newton white gouache, uni ball signo white gell pen, presto correction pen, Dr. Ph. Martin's bleed proof white ink, Uttrect fluid acrylic, and moltow white acrylic paint pen. These all work for me with watercolor, but I'm not sure if these are available for you. Do you have any other questions? 😀😀

I'm new and don't know where to go with this. I use the ink you review and there is a problem with it. When you dip a new pen into this ink for the first time, everything is perfect. The pen writes long and obediently. But as soon as the time comes to soak it a second time, everything goes bad. The pen begins to flow strongly as soon as you touch it, and obedience disappears. And so with every new pen, no matter what type it is. It is unclear what and how to clean these feathers. Water and alcohol do not work with this ink. I want to use the pen for more than a couple of minutes. Can you suggest a solution to this problem?
@battlebrawlerproduction5 ай бұрын
Good question, When I use this ink I dip my nubs in clean water before and after to keep them clean as the ink likes to stick to the nib. I've seen a few artist even fill a shot glass with either Dr. PH. Martin pen cleaner or Higgins pen cleaner and dip in that, then whip with a towal before dipping. I think the water works best, I lightly dry it so that theirs a barrier to help the ink flow. Hopefully that helps.

@battlebrawlerproduction4 ай бұрын
Oooooooh, I am so sorry that the solvents made it worse. If your having issues with zig, I would try Winsor and Newton black India ink (water proff but not alcohol marker proof) or the calligraphy ink (not waterproof and not alcohol marker proof). If you want a simpler or more consistent sumi ink then go with yasutomo (the green bottle is the waterproof one)

@@battlebrawlerproduction Sorry for the misunderstanding, maybe the translator is at fault. The solvent didn't make it worse, I just ordered it today. It’s bad now, after previous unsuccessful attempts, none of which helped. I've tried water, dish detergent, alcohol, even toothpaste and an eraser. Thanks for the advice. When the solvent arrives, I'll try to save the quills. If it doesn’t help, I’ll buy new quills and other inks that are not resistant to alcohol.

Both charcoal and ink use lampblack pigment(India ink is soot, water, binders). It can be inferred that the two behave similarly as a wash and what you're really getting by choosing this kind of hybrid product is the initial wetness and binding.
@battlebrawlerproduction5 ай бұрын
Thank you for shearing that information! I really like liquid charcoal.
@JH-pe3ro5 ай бұрын
I just got through using my own Deleter Black 4(one long marathon inking session) and immediately spotted in the video the exact issues I had: On all of my tools it beads up and stops flowing pretty easily. I believe it might be intended primarily to be diluted for washes, and this would also explain the behavior around alcohol markers. I've seen a number of pigmented inks that are formulated to be moved once by a wash and then go permanent after; letting them dry reduces the amount of movement but they still move, even 48 hours later. *After* the wash, they're locked in.

@WurdBendur4 ай бұрын
@@battlebrawlerproduction After some testing I've confirmed it's still pretty light compared to my other inks. Also once it's shaken up it gets pretty thick, so it takes some doctoring (water and a little soap) to make it flow well. It's just not really a nice ink to use out of the bottle, so I think your assessment is fair.

I've read online that we should not be using any sort of mixing ball with Lit powder. It supposedly crushes the glow structure and reduces the light emission potential. Did you experience any of this? I've been looking to do something similar to what you've done with that paint mixing bottle.
@battlebrawlerproduction6 ай бұрын
Hello, sorry for the late response, I was not aware that you were not suppose to use a mixing ball so thank you very much for shearing that! As for it effects the light emission potential I have to say that I'm not 100% sure about that, for one I did mix it with a acrylic flow additive so that their effect its light emission and did weaken it when comparing it directly to the powder form, I was ok with that since it made the powder more transparent and that's what I needed for my artwork and while I was mixing it with the mixing ball from what I could tell did not effect the light emission. If it did it was so minor the I did not notice, Next time I make more if my glow ink I will not use a mixing ball and compare the two directly but I don't know when I'll be able to do that, hopefully soon.

Pitt pens aren’t made to blend. (It can be done if you know how) They aren’t made for coloring books. They never have been. They’re India ink markers. If you have a design where blue crosses over yellow, the line doesn’t turn green. Just saying. These pens are for illustrators , architects, designers, conceptual artists, etc. If you wish to blend & color large areas, you purchase water or alcohol based markers … or a box of crayons.

What do you mean water resistant not waterproof? The acrylic ink i use is totally waterproof. Once dry it never reactivates or runs. It's like India ink except it runs smoother from a dipping pen. It doesn't seem to be any glossier than Indian ink
@battlebrawlerproduction7 ай бұрын
Hi, sorry, I think I didn't articulate that sentence well. The ink is waterproof, but I have noticed that when I make thinner line, like with a quill, that those lines can be washed away with a good wash of water or watercolor. Thicker lines don't seem to have this problem, but it is something I have noticed.
