Thanks buddy! I bought the bike prolly 8 or so years ago in boxes. Didn’t get around to fixing it until 3 years ago. I completely restored the bike 3 years ago. Sent the cylinder and head to Tom Morgan racing. He ported the cylinder and recut the head to his specs. I’m running vp 110 fuel. I never ran it stock so can’t say where or if he improved power but it is definitely a ripper and is very smooth. I’m running a keihin pwk carb, pc platinum pipe, pc r304 silencer, v force 3 or 4 reeds can’t remember. I had Jeff hill do the suspension on it. Secca and sorcs are both great venues. I enjoy both equally. Secca is just a little closer for me. I haven’t been riding the past couple years. I have to run b250 and I have no desire to run b250. Secca just added this Pre mod class 20+ year old bikes so I decided I’d get my bike back out and race. They run the Am race with 55+ and C riders. Pre mod is also 3rd from the last row. That’s why I’m catching and passing so many people. If you ride somewhere not to far I wouldn’t mind coming out and letting you take my bike for a spin. My Facebook is Michael Johnson if you have one

Wow that thing runs sweet. I'd love to get into racing one of those. How much roughly do you have into that thing? If you don't mind me asking.
@goonrider8875 Жыл бұрын
I prolly have around $6000 in it. You can build the engine which is a Kohler command twin for around $3000 minus head work. I have a set of one off custom heads on this engine. They flow enough to support 100hp. Chassis cost depends on a lot of factors. Just the parts to put a chassis together will cost every bit of $2000 with no front brakes. Then you gotta either pay someone to build you a chassis or you build your on. This is top class in lawn mower racing. You can build a competitive mower for around $3500-$4000 if you build a Briggs intek or Briggs vanguard engine. Really just better off buying one ready to go. You can find em around 3k
@CK-mf6du Жыл бұрын
@@goonrider8875 well that's not quite as bad as I thought. definitely not cheap, but compared to the cost of a new 4 wheeler or similar toy, not bad. Is it true that you have to run the imow class, or whatever it's called, for the first season?
@goonrider8875 Жыл бұрын
@@CK-mf6du best bet is to find the nearest track to you that races them and go check it out and talk to the racers. If you have any previous racing experience and have a little common sense you can run fxt. Most fun I’ve ever had racing was on a mod-x/cp it’s a prepared chassis with a built single. Can pretty much run em wide open all the way around if the track is good
@CK-mf6du Жыл бұрын
@@goonrider8875 copy that! I've got half an idea what that amount of horsepower can do, and the wheelbase on those things makes them a glorified go-kart. Gotta take some balls to run in fxt.
@goonrider8875 Жыл бұрын
@@CK-mf6du may look like a go kart but it’s nothing like a go kart lol. Most all go karts are a lot shorter then our mowers most people run a 46”-48” wheel base. Can only be 42” wide. 4” max offset. I have no offset in my chassis. I’ve been running a fxt since I was 16. Raced with the best in US and Canada. Definitely is addicting once you watched them race. Only problem is there isn’t a whole lot of support. You have to do a lot of traveling to race. I haven’t raced any the past 2 years. But when I was racing I was traveling to Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina. I live in Alabama

I could tell after that mis-shift to neutral in that corner the arm pump set in. I struggle with arm pump when first starting to ride for the day. I usually have to ride until it feels like it’s getting dangerous then take a 5-10 minute break. After that I’m good, of course you can’t do that in a race! I haven’t done much racing the past couple years. I use to race a 19 crf250rx but I sold it now if I go to a race I race my cr250. I went through and completely rebuilt the whole bike every nut, bolt, bearing, dowel pins new oem cylinder oem 05 crankshaft. Had the suspension gone through and set up for me. Sent the cylinder to Tom Morgan and had him port it and cut the head for race fuel. It has a pc platinum 2 fatty with a pc r304 silencer vforce3 reeds. I was running a apt smart carb but couldn’t get the lean bog off idle to go away. So I put the tmx back on and couldn’t get it to jet out how I liked so I put a pwk airstryker on it couldn’t get it to jet out how I liked either so I had to order a couple different needles and modify my slide. Now it runs a heck of a lot better. In this video I was running the tmx. I’ve been sick with COVID and haven’t had a chance to get any videos up with the current setup I’m running. I did have a 17 ktm 300 but I could never get comfortable on it. Was to unpredictable and the suspension wasn’t all that great to me but they are awesome running bikes! You’ll love racing! Makes you push yourself to your limits which is a good thing. Treat the first lap or so like a trail ride then after that push yourself. Not sure how long the race will be but most are 2hrs long. 2hrs is a long time going as fast as you can lol. If you have any questions just let me know be glad to help.
