This sequence had been in use since before the affiliation switch in 1989. Note how the announcer’s spiel at the end is cut off before he can mention NBC.

I remember New York City in 1980, I was 20. While crime was bad for that time period, it was nothing of the out- of-control proportions it has reached today in 2024.

What happened to these types of shows? They were common during the great consumer era of the late 60s to the mid 80s, after which it became too regional and not a major interest. Huell breaking into the biz in this format isn't a surprise, it's just I never knew he started in New York, thought he went right to Los Angeles.

We watched Adventure Time at my grandparents' house most Sundays after church while dinner was being prepared. That, and "Make A Wish". Then after dinner Grandpa would take a nap during the Rege Cordic Channel 4 Sunday Afternoon Movie.

This is a clinic on how to handle live TV with zero preparation. Eleanor Schano was a total pro. You can tell she was rushed onto the set halfway out of breath. She explains the situation, which prepares the audience in case something goes wrong. Then she proceeds to run the show as smoothly as if she had been in on it all along.

My grandfather and Jug were childhood friends. One of my greatest memory of my grandfather was being his DJ, playing Jug's albums back in the late sixties and early seventies. His favorite was the BLACK CAT.
