I know this video is 4 years old, but since most of the smaller portable AC units haven't improved much since this video was recorded, I figured I'd add a suggestion that helped me. I spent 20 years in the UK where AC units weren't that powerful. We didnt need them often, but when you did, what was on offer was not the best. What I did was I place a rotating fan in front of the AC unit to help with circulating the cooler air, and I have to say it made a huge difference.

Eeeek the shrapnel in the bottom end! Should have used a bolt style wheel puller, mount bolts into cylinder, shaft threads through center, pushing piston down pulling cylinder up, this is the way this should have been done.
