The best way to do this would actually be to do auto-trace, then use simplify masks and remove handles to get the "harsh" look. Then add a posterize time and mask expansion. Process-based rather than procedural but that's the best way to get it
@phyofox15 күн бұрын
Hey, that’s a great tip! I was thinking about suggesting the shape layer tool for the sharp edge look, since there aren’t too many frames, it’s doable without spending hours. Auto-trace with simplify masks sounds like a solid option too!

Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed the breakdown and creative thought process. Happy you caught the whisper joke. AI is such a sensitive topic these days, so I wasn’t sure whether to talk about it haha. But yeah, working with AI is always hit or miss. They’re great for personal projects like this though, and I had a lot of fun experimenting with Runway ML, Luma Lab, and Kling.

Amazing stuff brother!!!! I love how you work on your projects and share your workflow. Your videos are really high quality I really relate to you during the last part, I am a college student who lives alone and hence, I'm quite busy everyday. I started working on this edit 1 and a half days before the deadline and boy oh boy was it tiring...ended up finishing exactly on the deadline.
@phyofox24 күн бұрын
Thank you so much, brother! I really appreciate your kind words about my work and videos, it truly means a lot! 🙏 I can totally relate to that last-minute grind you mentioned. Balancing college life and editing sounds super challenging, but huge props to you for pulling it off right on the deadline! I checked out your edit and really loved the sense of humour and your music choice at the end - it was such a nice touch. It’s exhausting, but that feeling of accomplishment at the end makes it all worth it, right?
@johubify24 күн бұрын
@@phyofoxhaha exactly brother! You are spot on about the college part because I'm an engineer and my field has nothing to do with animation, yet this is my passion. In my free time I try my best to take some time out and invest in this hobby. As editors we go through all that pain for the final result, a vision we have in mind that we want to show the world. In the end brother, all that time spent is absolutely worth it! I love how different your approach was from others, nowadays all editors jump on trends without adding their own unique touch that represents themselves in the edit. Love your edit, I hope your videos skyrocket in views because you deserve it.

For the lightning animation, could i just track the head movement using motion track or mocha though? Seems kinda taking too long for doing it manually
@phyofox2 ай бұрын
Yeah, you could definitely track the head using either motion tracking or Mocha and then link the lightning to the track. Just make sure to clean up the in-between keyframes and keep the top and bottom ends of the rotation to reduce shakiness. Hope that helps!
