I've had this bass for 20 years and I love it. I will say it does take some tinkering on the amp to get the tone right, but once you do it hits great. Hilariously the thing that helped the most was the LMB-3. I run that and a CEB-3 to to thicken up the low end and I set the limiter to take out the high portion of the chorus and chefs kiss.

Every EMG pickup I've seen had the EMG brand etched into the cover. The covers on those are not removable either. So what pickup is this actually?

I just bought a bass like this two month ago, modded with a pair of EMG MMCS and P5. Vol blend bass treble 18V. The pair of 9V batteries are under the pickguard and got a "window" from the front, made of the pickguard, bolted with two screws. Elegant and clever mod. The sound is amazing.

Hey Pete. Just saw this. Congratulations! I’ve had a ‘15 since they came out. I have 13 other Thunderbirds. But my ‘15 is the best of the lot. My No. 1. Best bass I’ve ever owned. Incredibly versatile tones. Mine is under eight pounds. No neck dive. Best neck I’ve ever played.

Hey mate thanks for making this video! What a nice tone, sounds like a machine. I’ve been looking into getting one of these myself. How does it compare to your Japanese basses? Ive got a fender pb-62 and a pb-70 and find the 62 has a neck a bit too wide and the pb70 is a bit too heavy. Would you say this is a lightweight bass?
@petem8630

Thanks for the message, I sold the MF a few months ago. For me, it's all about woods, so any newish Squier i play feels light and airy (too me) the older Japanese basses feel heavier almost moist feeling as opposed to dry feeling of newer basses. When I'm talk about woods I'm talking about neck wood. Something about cured maple and old rosewood. I have 5 Precisions they all have strengths in different areas. I would happily gig with a MF.
@brunopaparelli8143
@brunopaparelli8143 3 ай бұрын
@@petem8630 thanks for the reply man, I totally get what you’re talking about when you say almost moist feeling on the neck, I can feel that difference when comparing my 1989 pb62 to my 2002 pb70! Older basses seem to break in like a worn shoe and respond better to a stroke on a string.
@brunopaparelli8143

@@petem8630 I’d say newer basses feel almost like plastic toys as opposed to that feeling of real wood older basses have. Does the MF have that toy feel?
