@nakul3424 I use these exclusively on all my planes. 91" ars300 with GP76 on Y headers, 104" Edge 540 with dual canisters on a dle120, 104" extraNG with DLE130, and now I'm putting together a 104" Yak54 with DLE130. In my opinion, JMB makes the best header and canister combo for no matter what engine you have. They provide linear power delivery and are quiet.

Hello my friend... without any disrepect, your test is completelly useless! Your spark cap is open and the spark coming out from it propagates much more RF (radiation) so much farther than what it should if connected to the spark plug on the engine. I got a tig welder, and its HF module (High frequency starter module) produces internally a spark jumping from one eletrode to the other.. that spark is very similar to the spark coming from your spark cap.. Whenever i trigger my torch, 3 or 4 rooms away from my office, all my USB devices disconnect. You should repeat your test with the cap connected on the spark plug threaded to the engine. Post the results again if possible...

The issue disappears when I turn off the telemetry or wrap the 900 Mhz antenna with aluminum foil, so the issue should be the 900 Mhz telemetry. The choke has got to be fully on and full throttle! Quick flips, you can tell a dry cylinder from a wet one by the prop and internals seems to be Louse as opposed to being dry. Just be sure you have a helper, tail tied and slack out. It’s way too easy to start at full throttle because you forgot to move it back to fast idle! I have also had them pop with ign OFF!! I believe it is the kill switch being clicked off on the cold start and still having a charge. First flight of the day I always make it pop then turn off ignition and do my mixing routine. After that all other startups two to three flips choke on,full throttle ignition off, then choke OFF and mix five or so times. Always the same results and you look like you know what you’re doing!!

@joetrin
@joetrin 4 жыл бұрын
I'm assuming you're using the RX8R-Pro. The key is to feed the servos with all the power it requires. Boards aren't always needed, but there are symptoms that will tell you if you need to supplement the power feeds to the servos. Here's a simple one to test for aileron blow back, go up to 2 mistakes high and at half throttle, put in full roll input. Now go full throttle and put in full roll input. If it rolls slower at full throttle or corkscrewing during roll, you're experiencing blow back. There are 2 causes for blow back, 1) not enough servo torque or 2) not enough power to your powerful servos. But in short, no issue with feeding your servos directly from the recievers.

Looks like the firmware upgrade only stops the issue with locking up as soon as you reduce the RFI noise it recovers where before it stayed locked out until it was power cycled. The real fix for this is the RX8R-Pro I tested it watched the non pro fail while the pro continues to work without issues. Kind of upsets me that FrSky has not replaced the entire X series with the fix the Pro got because the firmware upgrade is just a band-aid fix any lockout even temporary is not good during flight. The lockouts also from what I have been told doesn't go into fail safe gas engines continue to run could cause a safety issue. Other reports of EDF jets also experiencing the same issue from RFI generated in the ESC the theory. The pro is marketed as the only X series receiver which works correctly.
@joetrin
@joetrin 5 жыл бұрын
Actually, what you'll see is a phase out of the X8R, this is just an opinion. The RX8R-Pro is the same price as the X8R and it's got greater range and is controllable down to 25rssi while the X8r is controllable only to 35ish rssi. The XM+ can be used in the RB20 and the up and coming RB40, and it's proven to be stable and reliable with Gas Planes. I use this setup now exclusively. If we wanted to get really crazy, we could daisy chain 2x RX8R-Pros with XM+ on each sbus port of the RB20 or RB40 (soon to be released), now that would be interesting and very overkill ish.. LOL The erlier RX8R's work well, I've got an early Rx8R in my Su26 which has hundreds of flights with no issues at all. Also please note, both the RX8R-Pro and X8R's have had revised firmware since the publishing of this video.

Hey Joe, I caught your posts on Flying giants about this engine. I’m going to pester you with some questions as I am considering this engine for myself. 1) how is this engine proving to run and hold up for you? 2) prop & rpm numbers? 3) exhaust used? 4) how much does your plane weigh and do you feel it pulls out of a hover with authority or just kind of get it done? I am trying to NOT justify the money required to get a DA70 lol. Any other details you could share would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Michael, please feel free to pester. I love this engine!! It's now got over 300 flights ish. I used to use a 24x10 Mejlik and now I use a 24x9 Evo Mejlik and I love them both. Exhaust used is a custom Y pipe I made using 2 DLE35 RA headers from ZYHobby (35 bucks each) and I silver soldered into a Y, and I'm using a 3W L80 Single Canister. It's super quiet and very very responsive. As you can see from the video, very predictable in starting. RPM's are now in the 7200 RPM range, but what's more important than RPM is the solid performance in the midrange, it's instant and perfect for 3D.

Joe Trinidad I agree about performance. I am truly interested in how fast it spools up for post stall 3D performance. Thanks for the info!

@@michaelsell6928 with the 24x9 mejzlik or Falcon 24x9 you'll love the performance. Post stall performace is really good. Nice predictable high alpha passes down low, high alpha rollers, into a blast of throttle for waterfalls all very predictable and instant.

@@michaelsell6928 its a Flight Model Extra 330SC 93" wingspan it weighs around 17.5 LBS. We organize a group buy every year. This year we are bringing in a container of Skywing and Flight Model stuff. I organize this with our local hobbyshop: www.hobbyprosdepot.com/product-p/f151-blue.htm

These servos don't seem to be pulling as much as their claims.

Other than the Futaba, none of them did.

Joe Trinidad As a matter of interest, the Taiwanese made Turnigies ie 1266 ,1267 ,1258 ,8309 powerhd etc all pulled well past their stated torque and are precise in centering and reliable, there are good servos out there without breaking the bank.

I agree with you. I have used PowerHD, and all my planes use Bluebirds. My staple servo for my planes are 42a and h50's. I fly giant scale.
