Entering teaching in 1981, four years after I did student teaching and got my degree, I could never shake the feeling for the next 7 years that it was phony in the sense that nothing they mandate that the kids do actually needs to be done in my opinion. And I’d also been a paid canoeing guide up in northern Ontario for two seasons after being a camper at the youth camps on Lake Temagami for 3 seasons initially, and teaching felt less edifying or beneficial than teaching kids to paddle and camp and gather firewood, cook and scrub pots and pans and carry loads on portages and so forth. And especially today with the technology which is available I think kids would be better off homeschooling with sources such as the public library, KZbin, Hamilton Booksellers, and so forth. Or if they’ve got to have public school then convert the classrooms into computer labs and turn the desks into the walls and place large computers on top of them to do brick & mortar online academy with childcare workers and tutors. But to pay degreed people to lecture them continually just strikes me as grotesque at this point. It’s no wonder that the kids are so poorly behaved although to be fair there’s really nothing new about public schools being reminiscent of monkey island at the old Cleveland zoo as they certainly were forty years ago in my opinion. So I quit in 1988 to join the Seafarers Union, did that for 8 years then attended barber college where at least I could read during my breaks for the next 20 years of barbering doing haircuts and shaves. Barbering struck me as being more professional and also more essential than teaching school as again, nothing they do in school really even need be done by much of anybody.

When people say "get over it" in any way for any reason is non empathetic. It's been told to me and it's not a good feeling. Sometimes say nothing just listen and be supportive ❤

Hello, I’m a resident of The legacy at Druid hills. The information in this video is very good info but not completely accurate. The pricing on the surface is great yes. However once the lease is signed it seems things change depending on the location of ur apartment. Once the lease is signed you then realize that the price of your unit increases by an additional $175 to account for monthly taxes and fees for utilities such as $65 cable, $25 for valley trash, and an additional $75 for utilities in the rent. Now that’s totally ok but they don’t tell you that until ur lease is signed. They only advertise the base rent. The units near the leasing office and the front of the property where it can be seen from the street look freshly painted, clean and modernized. Upon reaching the back and hidden side of the property, as you would imagine, the farther away your unit is from the leasing office, the less attention to detail is and cleanliness is a factor. It’s a rare occurrence, almost non existent to see any groundskeepers working to keep said side of the complex as presentable as the other side. The trash receptacles are left open with trash hanging out of the receptacles. The units on the inside have been painted over numerous times so the doors, bathroom vanity and the cabinets in the kitchen don’t close properly. I moved in to find my toilet seat wasn’t brand new had appliance grease and paint all over it. The vents have been painted over as well. One vent had a screw in it to keep it open. I wasn’t given or even informed of a walk thru before moving in nor was I given an inspection sheet to properly note the issues I saw n that needed to be corrected within the unit. Overall, yes the rent here is still relatively cheaper than most places here in Atlanta, especially for the location. Just be mindful of those things that you as a future resident would consider to be standards or living in your apartment home and that you consider acceptable conditions for your unit. I’ll say this as of right now my email contact with corporate has been my best tool. I wish you all the best in Your apartment hunting 😊

Gwinnett County is ethnically diverse in general. There's parts that are predominantly African American, Latin American, Asian and Caucasian depending on where you are. But, it's the most diverse part of the Metro Atlanta area and Georgia. Duluth is definitely a melting pot with different ethnic groups of people. Duluth GA population: European American/White: 32% African American/Black: 23% Native American: 0.1% Asians: 23% Pacific Islander: 0% Two or More Races: 6% Latin American/Hispanic or Latino: 15%

Affordable my ass lol. I just looked up prices for this place and it's like anywhere between 2,600.00-4000.00 per month for a one bedroom apartment. WTF? Beautiful apartment but no fucking way.

First of all, thank you for sharing your thoughts in this video. They resonated a lot with me. I'm a high school teacher from Finland. The education field is not as bad here as it is in America but still, I recognized so many things you said from my life. I feel like that, too. I have a good and stable job so I know nothing is kind of wrong. However, I also feel dissatisfied and disappointed in my current life as a teacher. This job is different than I thought it would be and I feel like I was misled when choosing this career. I didn't know what I signed up for. I'm exhausted and this job is taking everything from me: My health and well-being as well as my positive view of the world. I blame my work for all of this. My life was good until I started this job 1,5 years ago. I'm in a spiral that I cannot control. I am slowly getting things back together but it'll take some years to figure everything out again :/

I’m currently taking my exams in Florida (where I’m from) but am moving to GA soon and will be working in there. Can I continue testing in Florida then apply to GA? Or will I have to do extra things for GA? Insight PLEASE!!!!

@@FaithMNunez How exactly did you go about getting your Florida tests to transfer? I graduated from my program in 2018 having passed the FTCE:GK, Professionals, and Elementary Ed. I had to take some time away since then, but am wanting to go into teaching now. This would be so helpful.
