That was the band that could (almost) do no wrong. Everything past this moment has turned into "Lars, James&friends", but never really Metallica. In the end money and fame, and of course Lars' desire to steer everyone towards a different "artistic expression" killed their Mojo. Yes, they had some fun and cool songs here and there and definitely some pretty cool shows afterwards and over the years, but they were never the same, and never have been since. They have been trying for a long time now to somehow recapture what they lost.. but never really did. They've completely wasted the second part of their younger years...And for what? Such a shame! But I'm happy this recording exists. Thanks so much for posting it.

the good audio quality is a direct ruip from the metallica sound engineers, as it was released as A B-SIDE on one of the Load 1996 singles. (think it was until it sleeps)

Polls are very fickle when it comes to this sort of thing. Kirk Hammett was the 'world's best guitar player' back in about 1987 - it just depends on the band's popularity. About a year or two later it was Slash. But then again, Lars, is not what I'd class as a legendary drummer either.

He was never good by his own admission. He was a good song arranger with James. And he had the business connections and sense to allow Metallica to be successful
